We are looking into this. Please everyone, be patient so we can try to find the reason that this happens.
Wise words. If my experience with this error is any indication it might be difficult to track down because it's not happening often--at least for me.

This isn't an error as such but effectively makes the forum unusable for me! I haven't used the forum for ages until last night. I am based in the UK and on both my MBPro and iMac the forum is slow slow I almost go to sleep waiting for the page to come up. I have fast fibre based broadband and everything else comes up virtually instantly. I have just timed my MBP and it takes 1 minute for the page to come up. The iMAC is a bit quicker but I can't check it while completing this post

That was an elusion as the iMAC also takes 1 minute!

I can confirm that I have been having the same problem for the last 48 hours approx. Safari and macOS Mojave.

I thought it was me so I've run all sorts of tests and OnyX, rebooting, Recovery first Aid on SSD etc. (I didn't need to do all that as this only applies to the Forums!) It really is very, very slow to open a window.

Oddly, the Forum windows opened closer to normal with Brave.

Tricky one to solve if the only two who have mentioned this are in the UK and in my case, it is faster on Brave. But Safari has till now been super fast.

Your assistance requested :) ;)

It's getting worse. It took 50 seconds to render this page.

I have had the slow down as well recently, but nothing even close to a minute - and I'm on fiber as well.
Next time that happens look at the bottom left of the window - for me the browser is waiting for an intermediate site to load and that causes the delay.
For me the delay is only 4 or 5 seconds, so it doesn't really bother me, but before that the site came up instantly.

And as to the "Ooops" problem - I have not have that for quite a while

Yes "reading contextualmedia.net" and then "myserver.com" for about half of the time each. No idea where these sites are but it doesn't look like my ISP, BT, as everything else is at it's normal speed. If it is not BT, it doesn't really matter as I am unlikely to persist if this endures for too long while I am trying to sort out another problem.

If I was paranoid, I would blame either Brexit or Covid!!!

It appears the slow downs are occurring outside of the US. No slowdowns at least from my end have been noted. And I'm usually up quite late browsing the forums.

Today as well, everything is normal. BTW, it's a national holiday today here in the US so I would expect internet traffic to be even higher.

Please continue to report the slowdowns if they are still occurring.

I had the same problem here in Australia for two days but today seems to have resolved.:)

This site has slowed to a crawl here in Australia. 2min+ To load the Home page and longer for a thread to load.

We also saw your note about the same thing in another thread Rod and are looking into it. I'm wondering if the folks in Canada, the UK, and elsewhere are having the same problem.

No problem here. The site comes up immediately in both Safari and Chrome. Which browser are you using to reach us and have you tried others?

I hope I'm not going to regret saying this, but this site and most other regular sites are working just fine and quite fast for me, out on the wet coast of BC in Canada, and any super delays for the last week or so at least.

Running Mavericks and usually Google Chrome v. 67.x/

Thanks Patrick. Hopefully it's only Rod's connection from Australia.

I'm at a different location today with a terrible DSL connection - 94 msec ping, download at 0.5 Mb/s
But th forum still comes up quickly - no problem for me there in Ontario - Eastern Canada

That is a slow connection. Almost like dial up. :)

Thanks for letting us know that you can access the forums normally.

I started noticing problems late Tuesday night or early Wednesday but didn't mention it because I hadn't had a chance to do any troubleshooting. My net has been out completely since Wednesday afternoon and the cable fixit guy won't be here till late Monday at the earliest. So, for me, the problem could very well be with the ISP

Been there done that. :( Twice in the last 5 years, the varmints around here have eaten through the coax outside my home. We have a fiber optic connection but it stops at the optical interface unit which is enclosed in a large metal box on the side of my home. From that box it's ordinary coax to the connections inside the house.

Anyway, the slow downs seem to be outside of the US. Rod especially in Australia seems to be affected more than others have reported.

Still having a problem here in the UK - at least I am. Although there has been some improvement, it still takes 10-15 seconds to load a page - down from 25-30 seconds.

If it helps you, once on a page and if I post, the post is accepted almost instantaneously.

I am on Safari, macOS Mojave.
