With lots of time on my hands I thought I would write a post about my Apple Devices. At the moment I have an Apple Watch 3, Apple TV, iPad, iPhone and a MBPr. I accumulated these devices over time. I did not always have an iPhone and the other devices have all been relatively recent acquisitions except for an Apple computer in some form which I have had since 1988.

I love my Apple Watch and would replace it in a heartbeat if it died because it is so convenient. ApplePay and about 6 other apps have become my go to for the simple convenience of having them on my wrist. I can go out and never take my phone out of my pocket for a whole day sometimes.

My son surprised me by giving me an Apple TV for my birthday. It's the last model before the current and it is certainly good at doing what it's meant to do but it duplicates a lot of functions my smart TV already had. To be honest we don't watch that much TV and free to air plus "catchup" TV and a basic subscription to Netflix is about all we need. Still it was a generous thought and I'm still exploring the free features, we watched Tom Hanks in Greyhound last week which was free, definitely worth a watch.

The iPad 6 was an impulse buy on sale at JB HiFi because it was on special and I haven't regretted it one bit. It is a large screen version of my iPhone and so much easier to use for document and photo editing, reading and replying to emails and forums like this one and although it is not a mobile network version (no SIM) it's so easy to share my iPhone as a hotspot that I have never missed that facility.

My iPhone SE 20 is everything I'd hoped for when I upgraded from my old iPhone 7. The same size, faster and future proofed for the next few iOS versions I hope, even if not 5G capable.

In our family, we have AppleWatch 5, 2x AppleWatch 3, iPhone 10S, 2x iPhone 10R, Apple TV 4K, 2019 Macbook Pro, 2018 Mac Mini, 2020 Macbook Air, 2018 Macbook Pro, 2x iPod Nano, iPod Touch, 2009 24" iMac.

The 2 Macbook Pro's are our work devices, the others are our personal devices.

The Apple TV is the latest addition I bought about 2 or so weeks ago since we are now streaming a lot of stuff. I was using my Xbox One S prior to this, but wanted something a bit more meant for streaming. Additionally, I have the 1 year Apple TV+ subscription from the Mac Mini purchase and wanted to use that to watch some of the Apple Originals.

Trying to see if we can survive on just the Apple TV streaming for most of our TV needs which is largely streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ and the need to watch Football (NFL) when it comes into season in the fall. If we can cover the streaming of the sports games, I think I can easily ditch my TV service.

The popular saying nowadays is "cut the cord". With cable prices rising every year and some companies filing for bankruptcy, prices for cable or TV service are only going to go up.

Streaming services are okay if you can live with their available programming and/or movies. Satellite service such as "Dish" offer more than most streaming services but their pricing tiers are really no better than most cable providers.

And then there is internet service which we all need; and lets not forget about our phone carrier and their charges. All together: $$$ (n)

My Apple devices include an Apple Watch 5, iPhone Xs Max, 2020 13" MBP, 2018 11" iPad Pro, 2009/2010 Mac Pro, 2011 Macbook Pro, and a 2011 iMac.

I don't have any streaming devices. I can access Netflix on my DishTV service. Once again limited by living here in rural America where the sun shines and cellphone service along with the internet is spotty at best.

We are an all Apple house: 2xMBPr 15" 2015, 2xMac Mini (one is a theater server), 5xAppleTV (yeah, even with just two of us, it's a long story), one MBP 2011 17" and one iMac, plus an  Watch 2 and also a 4, an iPhone 10 Pro and an iPhone 11 Pro, plus two iPad minis. Oh, and one Thunderbolt Display. And one set AirPods and one set AirPods Pro. I thinks that's it. I keep looking at other devices but the simplicity of use of the Apple environment is just too tempting.

Hey John.....

That list is growing longer. Tim Cook should be sending you a Xmas card every year. ;)

My Apple devices include iPhone 11 and iPad 3. Really intrigued by the Apple Watch, which I think will be useful for me.

Hi John - what a list! I'm assuming that all of these devices are not actively used? Wife & I have just 8 (4 iDevices, 1 iMac, 2 laptops, & 1 Apple TV) - my recurring nightmare (usually in the fall) is when Apple decides to update/upgrade all of their operating systems! Just curious how you handle this presumably gigantic task? :coffee: Dave :)

Hey Dave, the only "non active" devices are the iPad mini 2 and the Gen1 AppleTV. Some of them obviously do not get updates anymore, but the list is still long for devices that do. It is always a good time updating devices! LOL. Ooh, and I forgot to put my Time Capsule on the list! :ROFLMAO:

you know, while I didn't have any APPLE products, I had a negative attitude towards this brand, saying that it was just a show and nothing more!
And I was really very wrong.
At first I bought a phone - IPHONE 7, and was surprised. Nothing was said, the quality is simply unreal. And the price is reasonable.
Served 6 years !!!!
Now I have a new iPhone, MacBook Air 2018, Apple Watch and of course IPhad)

my first Apple device was a mid 2007 20" iMac (which is still going strong today BTW). We as a family now have:

2017 27" iMac
2019 16" MBP
2019 MBA
2015 MBP
2015 MBA
2010 Unibody White MB
iPhone X
iPhone XR
2 x iPhone 6S
Airpods
Airpods Pro
2 x iPad
Apple Pencil
2 x Apple TV
160GB iPod Classic
iPod Touch
Apple Superdrive

I'm thinking about an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro in the near future.

Do I have a problem???

It's getting close to the time to replace both the computer and the phone. Someday I'll replace my Kindle Fire (a gift) with an iPad.

now I have a 2018 MacBook Air, 2nd generation Airpods and an iPhone 7, bought in 2017. I think now to change the iPhone to a new, newer one.

Sophie, do you want a bigger iPhone or a smaller one? The reason I ask is because of the new iPhone 12 range. I have already opted for an iPhone SE 2020 because I had an iPhone 7 and did not want a big heavy phone like my wife's iPhone XR. The new range of iPhone 12's includes an iPhone 12 Mini. I certainly would have considered it when buying my SE but the price was a big factor. https://www.apple.com/iphone-12/

The iPhone 12 Mini is larger than your SE 2020 and may be a bit heavier. Not worth the additional expense in my opinion. Plus the word is that the battery has less staying power than the rest of the line.
