Wow... I just looked out at the thermometer (which is not in the direct sun) and it's reading 110ºF... for those of you more familiar with the centigrade measurement, that's: 43ºC... otherwise known as stinkin' hot for Pennsylvania! :(

Not quite 110 here but getting up there. My Air is over 20 years old and held together with Glue and bailing wire! :D Even though it's showing 99 I bet it will hit over 100 today. Out temps seem to max out around 4PM here.

Charlie, hold out for the new Retina iMac with full touch interface and all parts welded in! :D

About an hour ago I finished running 8 miles outside (2-3pm). Temp was 103°F in the shade and 38% humidity. This makes for a heat index of around 114°F...and some heat index charts say that when you're in the direct sun (which it was a good bit of the time for me)...that heat index values can be up to 15°F higher.

So that could mean a heat index (in the sun) of up to 129°F. So I ran 8 miles outside...at an average pace of 6:57/mile (which is a pretty good pace anytime of the year)...in conditions where the heat index could have been close to 129°F.

For what it's worth...it wasn't much fun!:( But it was a nice challenge (which I'm always up for)!;)

When it's hot like this...I have a "hydration belt" that can hold a variable number of water bottles. For the distance I was running...I was carrying 2 bottles of water (about 16oz./500ml total). I actually only drank one (250ml).

I probably should drink more...but I hate drinking warm water!:( I actually had the bottles full of ice when I started...but after only 1 mile...the ice was gone!

We were lucky to get a break today - it was in the low 30s which was nice coming from the low 40s yesterday. Thankfully, the heat is moving west (it's your turn Prairies!) but it's coming back at the end of next week. Oh how glad I am that campus is air conditioned.

I spent the day in the pool or in the AC . . . helps that I'm resting a heel spur, so I had an excuse not to run in his heat (though I have run the last three afternoons) :p

I usually start off with looking at you through a window from the outside. It really gets the heart pumping and burns those calories.

Man...that "heart-pumping" part tells me you've done this before! That's a detail you don't just dream-up...you experience it!;)

Anyone seen Woot.com today? Brand new i5 11.6 MacBook Air for $779 + $5 shipping.

So tempting! It's taking every fiber of my being not to get the credit card out.

Oh trust me, that's the only thing holding me back! I love Woot.com, but it gets me in trouble so often.

Still $779 for what is a $1000+tax machine? $200 off at back-to-school time is unheard of on a new Apple notebook.

Oh, she'd have my hide - and our 10-year anniversary is next week. There's no way I'm going to rock the boat right now ;)

If it makes you feel any better...this 11" MacBook appears to be an educational only model. Which really wouldn't be a big deal if the specs were better.

It has:

- the slower 1.6ghz cpu
- smaller 64gig SSD
- biggest downside...just 2gig of ram

But I can see how it would be tempting!;)
