I agree except that the President only signs bill and laws. Therefore we need to elect the correct people to do that. In some states there are other items on the ballot also.:)

If only :p

I already have voted for McCain and will again in November, provided he gets the nomination. Now that Romney has dropped out and it's highly unlikely that Huckabee will be able to over take McCain there is more or less no chance I'll have to vote for a non GOP candidate.

i think it is messed up that the media presents to us who will be the next president and makes us basically choose from the 2 parties. we have other political parties like libertarian people running for president but the media never shows us these people. scary if you ask me.

I think that only happens if you, the individual, are weak minded enough to allow them to. A few weeks ago it was obvious from watching the media that Romney was going to be the GOP candidate and Clinton the Dem candidate. Now look where we are today. During the Summer the media told us McCain was finished yet that has obviously not happened. The media never gave Huckabee a chance over Romeny, yet which is still in the race? Right now, Obama is the golden boy, but lets see what happens after March 4th.

The system was designed to support 2 parties at best, 3 with marginal results. Anything more would be chaos and no one would actually win. Ron Paul has had a good showing despite his lack of media attention.

Personally I don't think most Americans are interested in more than two parties. Many of the fringe party candidates often don't actually resonate well with the normal positions of most Americans. They may sound very good to a few, but the majority I think would find their views too far outside the mainstream.

I think the media has only a small part in this. Even if the media gave them equal airtime, I don't think most people would like what they heard.

This is definitely the truth. I've encountered that people expect the same general ideals from their candidates. Most Americans prefer a black and white system than the gray area that third parties bring into the mix.

Right now, I'm liking the gray area best, but come election day, who knows, maybe I'll have some epiphany and vote with a main party. I don't expect that to happen, but it always could.

Fair Enough. I guess i am just alone in the feeling for the need of a third party. I feel i am not represented by any candidate...McCain at best.

basically i am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. i feel that "gray " area you speak of derek, makes the most sense to me because things are difficult , to me , in black and white. like how does it make sense for conservatives to be for a smaller less intrusive gov't but then at the same time want to out law abortion and gay marriage and intrude into peoples lives in that aspect.

I know where you're coming from. I often get flak for being a socialist, but most people equate socialism to Stalinism.

It's not the same at all, but to the average guy socialism = communism = Stalinism.

True. In many ways, Socialism is just as bad as Stalinism though.

The anti-capitalist stance of the party is one of the few issues I disagree with.

Capitalism is something I tend to favor, because those who work hard do better than those who don't really try. Luckily for me, the Socialist Party USA supports democratic centralism, and I think that in order for the party to succeed, the need for jobs for the poor exists, right along with the right for the rich to be rich.

Conflicting views with the party? Yes. However, on any other issue, abortion, gay marriage, drug control, I agree wholeheartedly.

Actually, there's a generator online that you can use to make them. I just edited out the background of mine in Photoshop.

Who would you vote for?

Ron Paul -- of the candidates he's the only one who comes close to talking about seriously limiting the size and scope of government withing constitutional bounds. Too many people -- even those who would call themselves conservatives/constitutionalists -- have bought the idea that 'their guy' can use power for good while the 'other guy' will use it for evil. They like big government just as much, they only argue where it will grow -- wether the welfare state or the warfare state. Both approaces further diminsh your freedoms and liberties.

Every four years we go through this -- we want a political messiah to save us. But the presidency has very little constitutional power, which no one seems to realize. The problem is power itself. The office does things it has no authority to do, and it is WAY too much power for ANYONE, even the smartest individual on earth, to exercise wisely.

If you ask me, we live under mild dictatorship. We like to tell ourselves that can never happen here, only other places, but it practice, that's what we have. If things keep going the way they are, it will only get worse.
