Zen Xtra vs iPod

I have about 7.5 gig of music on my iPod...and am still trying to get through the rest of my cd's....I figure I have about a gig more of music..maybe a little more...then after that....it'll stay around 9 gig of music for a long long time...and I'll use the other 10 gigish for storage....I see no problem with storage on even a 20 gig iPod...and it's so small....it's amazing....I love it...

I think this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find any info anywhere...

How well does the Zen work with iTunes on Mac, if at all? Is it pretty easy to browse the contents on the Zen and sync the computer and the Zen?

I'm sure it's been posted before but I've been searching for a while and can't find any info on it. Thanks =)

My initial reaction is that you can't sync them, other than that.. I really have no idea. Most players don't play well with iTunes.. or vice versa.. iTunes does not play well with other players besides the iPod.

So PC users have the option between iPod and Zen while Mac users are stuck with the iPod? No support from Creative is fine...but I can't even find a third-party program or any website discussing "Zen for Mac." I guess I could just buy it and then press my luck =(

I love Apple and all, but for me it's a practical reason to use Mac, and the iPod is anything but with its price tag.

I felt the same way until I read about a million reviews and realized that I could get a cheaper mp3 player, but Im going to get real irritated with it, can't use it as a backup hard drive, etc etc.. so I finally broke down, sold a bunch of my CD's and purchased and iPod with the money.. and Im really happy that I did it, especially since my other friends who bought other types of players.. are not very happy. And will probably buy an iPod anyways now. So it ended up being even more expensive.

I think you should go for the Zen... The ipod is in many regards a "spare no expence" type of product, and it seems that you are very focussed on the price tag.

Personally I chose the ipod 20 G, (yes !, I too live in Denmark, and bought it here). I love it... it is small and light enough to go anywhere with me, the interface is soooo nice, and ofcourse it looks great. But to me there is also such a thing as "joy of ownership", to me it DOES make a difference if it is a grey brick, or a sleek white sexy gadget... I did'nt just buy a 20 G harddrive & four buttons... I bought an ipod... I guess it all comes down to how you look at it ;).

... And as to that last line, I think it would be appropriate if one of us acted like an adult, so I'll just let it slip :).

Regards.

Torben.

get one or the other...it doesn't matter...just get what you think will make you happiest...the iPod is amazing....what I've heard about the zen isn't excellent....but, nothing too terrible either....I don't like the look as much, but hey, everyone likes something a little different.....If money is the determining factor, get the zen, if quality and design are the factor, get the iPod.

My point exactly... It seems that price is your main concern, and as I mentioned earlier, the ipod is a "spare no expence" product. One major factor as to the price difference could be that Apple chose to put a 1.8" harddrive in the ipod, thereby making the thing as small and light as possible, while still maintaining decent storage capabilities... These harddrives are significacantly more expensive than the 2.5" featured in the Zen...

The ipod is not unreasonably priced, it just consists of expensive and elegant solutions... whereas many other manufactures make products which is all "cheap s possible" solutions :).

Norwood is a Mid-2010 15 inch MacBook Pro with 10.11.1.
You should, NightCrawler. iPods are wicked awesome. :D

My parents got me a cheap imitation mp3 player (a Virgin Pulse something-or-other), and it won't even connect to my Mac! I'm really annoyed that it didn't work.

When I get enough dinero, I'm going to go to the Apple Store to get an iPod.

P.S.: "Dinero" is Spanish for "money". ¡Ay caramba! :)

I heard also that you can use the iPod as a portible harddrive too and to see if your mac has "sick" hardware. Who here needs 60gigs for music anyway?
