You can’t use this version of the application “Compressor” with this version of OS*X

I own an iMac (Early 2008); Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory: 6 GB; Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB; OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.

I recently installed Final Cut Pro X, and it runs without an issue, despite not having a proper graphic's card... according to Apple.

Now, I'm trying to install Compressor 4, but I keep getting this error message: "You can’t use this version of the application “Compressor” with this version of OS*X. You have “Compressor” 4.0."

The only fix I could find, was to go into Compressor's "Package Contents" and force it to run with terminal. I tried that, only to get another error message saying: "Compressor cannot be opened because of a problem."

I've spent far too much time trying to figure out how to make this work. Does ANYONE out there have any advice??

According to Apple, Compressor 4.1.3 is compatible with Yosemite. Have you tried to update your copy?

Hi chscag, thank you for your reply! I can't update my copy, because I can't even get it open to access software updates... and it's not in my purchased folder in AppStore. =/

Did you originally purchase Compressor from the Mac App Store or did you buy it direct from Apple off their site? If you have a legal copy of Compressor, you should be able to get it updated. You might have to call Apple customer service. Make sure you have your original license code on hand when you do.
