Perhaps I missed it but have you guys checked the Applications folder a few minutes after clicking the download button? The first time I tried downloading Yosemite I thought nothing was happening and stopped everything. The second time I accidentally clicked on Launchpad and noticed the download had started.

If the download has started an installer should appear in your main Applications folder (not the one in your user folder) shortly after the download starts. How long it takes to download will depend upon your connection.

I have a Mac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and when I go to the App Store and click on the Yosemite option nothing happens. I click "get", it turns grey, and then does nothing. Any ideas?

It is a huge download and would depend on the speed of your network as to how long it takes, even on a fast network it takes a long time.

I have the same issue. I have a 2009 iMac with 12Gb Ram and a 500Gb SSD with a fresh clean install of OS X 10.6.8 (fully updated).

The iMac is compatible with Yosemite so should work but when I click the 'Get' button it turns grey nothing happens and no download begins.

FWIW I cannot download any Free apps from the App store, I tried Kindle and got a similar effect, click 'Get' it changes to 'Instal Appl', I click that and nothing happens.

I read another thread where someone from Apple support told the user that 10.6.8 upgrade requests were not being served by the App store. Not sure why that is, if true.

I have used debug mode and 'cleared cookies' and 'reset application' several times but no effect.

I would be curious if anyone having this issue can install anything else from the App Store?

10.6.8 and Yosemite goes grey after clicking as well.

This time its a macbook, even tried installing from a previously downloaded USB installer. And it gives an error about not allowed way to install Yosemite, go to app store and download from there....

So...once I find it in the applications folder I just run it?

After making a backup, yes, just run it. Make sure it's fully downloaded, though. It's over 5GB, as I recall.

EDIT: Oh, and if you want to avoid the download again, copy the installer to somewhere safe (a usb memory stick works well) as the installer is deleted as the final step of the install.
