Has this happened to any of you? I had LibreOffice installed yet after I upgraded to Yosemite from Mavericks my LibreOffice is GONE. I can't find it anywhere. I even checked my Library directory, no sign of it. I'm a bit confused and upset by this.

I am running Yosemite (have been for months), and it is working fine here. Version 4.3.2.2.

chas_m, did you upgrade or do a fresh install?

I know I didn't delete it, but also I remember now that with Mavericks, apps I'd have installed would vanish without a trace, so perhaps this is a carryover from Mavericks that caused it. I last used LibreOffice yesterday. I have no idea, but I hope Apple fixes this problem.

Unless my SSD is crapping out on me, which I guess could happen.

Do you know of a way I could check my SSD health, that is free?

ETA: Hmm I decided to check my Trash and lo and behold, a few apps are there! What?! WHY??

Gimp and LibreOffice are there.

I am still able to open Gimp though. I installed it to my external USB drive. And it's opening. So odd.

LibreOffice on the other hand is trashed, so I'll put it back. Freaky.

Check the incompatible software folder. should find in MacHD. Mavericks did that and yosemite does too. My preferences panes for my cintiq graphics tablet are in "incompatible Software" after installing Yosemite. Drivers still work perfectly though.

If it was a fresh install, you'd have nothing buy what came with Yosemite. I did an upgrade of my Mavericks machine to Yosemite last night and Libreoffice and every other app I had installed remained where they were..

Nope, it was not a fresh install. It was an upgrade. All of my other documents are there, and apps.

As I and others have suggested, an upgrade doesn't remove any of the existing apps. If there was some sort of incompatibility with the apps, they will be restricted/prevented from loading but the apps don't get deleted..

I know that this may be confusing. But why not just reinstall Libre Office...it's free!:)

p.s. Just checked. Libre Offcie is 10.10 compatible.:)

I understand, and there is no Incompatible Apps folder anywhere that I have found. Plus, I now remember this was happening in Mavericks, too. Apps would randomly be deleted. So it may not a Yosemite issue per se.

I found in the Trash can so I just put it back. It works.

It's just frustrating that this is happening. I don't know if my SSD is failing or what but this issue is disturbing, what if I save a file I need to keep and it somehow gets deleted without my knowledge...

Never knew that...I lost a few apps with Mavericks. Now I know where to look if Libre Office disappears. Thanks.

Nice to know that others love Libre Office too...

I'm trying to think of a reason why your apps periodically move themselves to the trash. The only when I can come up with is that you are accidentally right clicking on them, perhaps in the dock, and accidentally choosing "move to trash" somehow.
