To watch the live stream I had to use Safari. Apple flat out said the day of the live event when I click on it in firefox that my browser would not play the live stream and to use Safari.

But that was a special live event, not an Apple video per se. Other Apple videos are viewable with another browser.

Right now in 10.8.5 Mountain Lion with latest Firefox on iMac. I clicked it in Firefox and got this:

"Apple Special Event. October 16, 2014.

Streaming video requires Safari 5.1.10 or later on OS X v10.6.8 or later; Safari on iOS 6.0 or later; or QuickTime 7 on Windows. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later."

Then a allow quicktime to run? came up in Firefox. I clicked yes and still it sat there. Went to Safari and it played instantly.

There ya go.. exactly!! And I just came back from Apple.com in Firefox... and as I went to go view a vid on the site, there's this teenie-weenie little popup that I didn't really memorize word-for-word, but asks for permission to run something or another (where the **** are my glasses, anyway?!!) and when I clicked on 'o.k.' it plays the vid.

Mystery no more!!

EXACTLY!!!;) I had to do the same exact thing when I used FireFox (just a little bit ago) BEFORE viewing the Apple iMac video. That Firefox message was asking permission to use Quicktime in order to view the video.

Sometimes you need to wear your glasses (I need to wear reading glasses 100% of the time when using the computer).:(

Now you can rephrase your earlier statement about "never being able to view Apple videos" to "always being able to watch Apple videos" with Firefox!;)

Add not placing the blame on TWC Hawaii for not being able to watch Apple videos!;) Most of us hate TWC (including me)...but we can't blame them for this one!;)

Congrats on figuring things out!!!:)

Tygrz I wonder if you have actually installed Yosemite?

There is no icon in the Dock anymore for reporting problems to Apple.

Yeah I'm really wondering about that!! I'm downloading again, here, and will try to save it this time. All 'beta' downloads have disappeared from my downloads list...

Downloaded & Saved...

...the Yosemite installer. Then while that was happening, I went to Apple and read about installing, just in case I'm overlooking something. Unless I read it wrong, it says to *upgrade*, simply download Yosemite from Apple, and then double-click on the resulting download. Did that... at least 3 times, now. I get the different-looking UI, the 'about this Mac' says I'm running 10.10, yadda yadda yadda... but I still have the feedback icon in the dock!! Now for those who have been following my ramblings, I just had a hard drive die on me... so now I'm having to combine 2 others so I can have a spare to put Yosemite on. At the rate it's going, it might be done by New Years... then I can do a 'clean install'. I just wonder why the upgrade isn't working.

Well, after downloading the Beta, there was always an Installer in the Applications Folder for it, even after activating and installing. Was listed in the 'i' list as Installer, however with the full operating system that Installer no longer appears. Do you still have 'Installer' in the Applications Folder and maybe one for the full system if it has not run?

iPhoto broken?

I'm generally liking the Yosemite upgrade, but am finding I cannot access iPhoto. It tells me I need to update the app to work with yosemite, OK fine, no problem. I go to the store and see an iPhoto update waiting, perfect. Won't let me download the update, saying it's not available for my apple ID. ***? If I can't get this to work I lose a major function of my mac. Certainly unhappy about this. Always something it seems. So is this a legitimate bug does anyone know? Or am I missing something obvious? Ha! further study shows I can't download anything. Not available for my ID. I'm the only user. Great.

EDIT: For anyone having this issue I found by going to app store, click on purchases and by pressing command-R it refreshes stuff. Took two trys but it's working again.

There's an 'OS X Yosemite' icon in Applications but it has a little 'x' in the top-left corner and the icon itself is grayed out. The full-system and icon are on another separate drive.

You have lost me with this other drive business.

If you have the report icon in the Dock, you are still running the Beta version Tygrz.

I'm trying this one more time as per instructions read on Apple's website. If it doesn't come up right I don't know what to do.

Thanks anyway :)

*Update* - Fourth time's a charm... success!!

Yessir it has... and that's how I can tell the full Yosemite is there?

Okay so then I did the same thing to my other iMac and it still shows the icon. Wonder if I'll have to do IT 4 times, too!!

Thanks for moral support and direction.... much appreciated!!

On this iMac, I wanted to keep the OS that was on it, and not have it messed up with anything, so I put the Yosemite on a new external.

This is what happened to me.

Awww no!! Don't tell me the "coconut wireless" (TWC Hawaii) strikes again!!

I think I know what is going on with your browser window. When you are looking for the red, yellow, green buttons, they will appear after you hit esc. If you hit the green button again. the window will again go to full screen. It seems you can not expand the window to full screen with the finder tool bar and so on, visible. I want to see my system status, so I generally use the bottom corner grab and put it where I wish. I can NO longer do that.... it bounces back to a default window size, I DO NOT like that. But it is what it is. I do not particularly like the iTunes windows. I think they are pretty lame.
I preferred the graphics from the other OSs. See if you can figure out the window size with the esc button. Not the force quit, although if you need to do so, use it like the person mentioned.
I have a friend whose network has had bugs post Yosemite update and now Pandora won't work on his iMac. His selection for slide show whilst his computer is in screen saver was changed to the NatGeo default which he has changed several times, but it wont seem to let him command his machine, and goes back to NatGeo. He's a techie, and is quite confused.

Just wanted to let joebeimon know that the "old" behaviour of the green button, what I have always called "intelligent resizing," is still there. A click on the green button takes it to full screen, but if you hold option and click the green button ...

Title of the thread is "Yosemite Bugs". Have you considered that the problem may be with Firefox and not Yosemite (since the videos work with Safari)? I'm thinking probably not…since the Firefox folks should have updated Firefox to be compatible with 10.10…but you never know.

Just something to consider,:)
