Hi forum
I have been using a Mac for a year now and bought intego antivirus first day I switched on.
1 year later and a little wiser I really don't want to pay 50 pounds for something that may not happen, I use my Mac only for surfing and few downloads but from trusted sources. My question is I sometimes use online banking( only home router) do I need any protection? (Running osx yosemite)

For online banking, your bank should be providing end to end encryption.

If you stay conscious online, you should be safe for now until the inevitable happens (that being the development of a pernicious virus in the wild).

And until that "pernicious virus in the wild" shows up, no AV can prepare for it. There are no known vectors for viral attack on OS X so any virus will come by some unknown vector and the A/V folks will have to respond to that now-unknown threat. So save your 50 pounds and enjoy your Mac.

True. The first real virus will be of a variety that could not possibly be anticipated. When that time comes, we'll worry about that then.
