Woe is Me !!

My friend Tim brought his 80 Gig IPOD round to my place so he could bounce some CDs onto my mac and then transfer them onto it. He's not into computers in any shape or form so can't add to or mangage his IPOD at all.
That all worked beautifully.

I then fired up SENUTI and was really flying and tranfering some of his 2916 songs off hist IPOD onto my fairly sparse collection on my newish mac.

Then, somewhere in the middle of 'Strawberry Fields Forever' it got stuck.
(I don't even like it that much !)

An error message popped up asking if I wanted to abort the import, to which I said yes.

Then, with the colour draining from my face, I realised that all 2916 of his tracks, playlists....everything, had gone.

In fact Itunes thought it was a brand new Ipod and suggested my name as the name for it.

So can anyone tell me what I did wrong, or try and make me feel a little less glum and stupid than I do now.

You hit yes? What program are you using to rip from his iPod?

You just cant connect iPods to any computer and transfer stuff, unless you have a "ripping" program. iPods are computer specific

Yeah, in order to avoid this in the future you need to go into your iPod's settings on the original computer and select "Manually manage songs". This way it won't automatically try and sync the iPod's songs w/ the computer's songs.
