No, I haven't checked it out although I've owned WinZip for Windows ever since the application was originally developed and published by Nico Mak. (I'm dating myself.)

There are so many free zip/unzipping utilities for the Mac, I don't know why you would need something like WinZip for the Mac? Also, your Mac has built in unzipping.

Here's one example of what's available for free: MacZip

You people with your fancy GUIs! All you need is right here. ;)

I can see it being beneficial for encryption but you can get that elsewhere (-e switch for us CLI people).

It took me 10 minutes just to scroll through that page, much less learn how to do it. :[

Us CLI people use tar and gzip.

Good point. I figured using the CLI version of zip would be a good start though. ;) What about bunzip2?

As was said OSX has built in Zip and Unzip. To zip click on the files you want to zip and right click. Click on Compress.

For GUI users, the best GUI archiver app I have ever used on OSX is Better Zip. CWA loves it also.

And yes, you can use the Terminal also, but when I am just zipping up one file, I find right clicking and on Compress a lot faster.

A lot of useful alternatives; no has said as has been said so often about other programs - "Don't Use It!"

Man, you ARE old! ;D That reminds me, I think I still have the registration code filed away that they mailed to me back in 1995. No no, not emailed. Snail mailed.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Unarchiver. It won't compress files, but for uncompressing files, it's the bee's knees. Just don't get the Mac App Store version (it's been hobbled to accomodate the rules).
The Unarchiver

stuffit expander

Uh no, just no. Stuffit ceased to be relevant at least 8 years ago. Their early OS X software was pretty buggy, if I recall correctly. I'm dumbfounded to learn they are even operating still.
