I am thinking about getting a latest gen macbook air, but I have some requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to decide.

I will be loading Win 7/8 using boot camp and running it natively (not vm) as I need to work with windows extensively. I also have a HDHomeRun tuner that as of today I use to watch hdcp protected TV using hdmi from windows. I need to know if running windows on the air will let me connect an hdmi display using the thunderbolt-hdmi dongle and let me use that as an external display with audio over hdmi and support hdcp protected content over this connection.

This really is a must for me so any help from people who have experimented in the area is appreciated.

Yes.

As far as I am aware, there is no such animal as a currently manufactured video card that does not support hdcp.
Think that's been the case for at least 4-5 years.
Don't believe I've even seen anyone talk about it much in the last 3-4 years as it has become more or less a non-issuse except to those wanting to record the same.

The Drivers come from Apple - and the dongle/hdcp worked with Windows 7 and bootcamp - so I don't think there would be a problem with Windows 8. I have used Windows 8 through a Virtual Machine through the dongle - but I haven't actually tried a pure bootcamp with Windows 8 (As I am not ready to jump there as my bootcamp partition yet) I actually don't know if the Apple drivers will work with Windows 8 bootcamp yet.

Here is some info on getting the drivers for the Air

As far as I'm aware, the Windows 8 driver model is the same as Windows 7 at least according to the folks in the Windows forum that I look in on sometimes. However, Ivan has a good point in that it might be better to wait on Apple to officially support Windows 8 with an update to Boot Camp.

I have a 2012 13" macbook pro with Windows 8(previously Windows 7) installed in Bootcamp and HDMI works very well. Depending on the tv in my house I connect to OS X will not pass sound through but with Windows I can get the sound on any tv I connect to.

You should get sound in OS X if you go into Sound Preferences and select the TV as the output.
