wi fi for my new macbook air

Purchased one yesterday to take with me in my RV. I was under the impression it would pair up with my iPhone for internet use while on the road. I guess not. Anyway what would be my best options. I have verizon for my phone service.

You've setup a Hotspot on the iPhone. Once having done that you can connect the MBA to the iPhone using WiFi, USB or Bluetooth and get onto the Internet.
