I had always thought that you needed Toast (or an equivelent) to create Audio CDs. It isn't obvious how to do this with Finder Burn Folders. As I have a version of Toast Lite, I have never really explored how to do this without Toast.

So, how DO you burn an Audio CD (not MP3, normal audio format) using Burn folders, or do I have to use iTunes for this task?

iTunes. Easiest way in iTunes is make a playlist and throw in the songs and hit burn. I am a fan of Toast but for Audio CD's I almost always use iTunes since that is where my music is already anyway!

Hi Bently. I am certainly no expert of the matter. It would depend on the format the the file you wish to burn are in? Also ht you are going to play the completed DVD in? They will often play on a PC/Mac but not in a DVD player. MOst DVD players only support Mpeg 2..some Divx and Avi.

Need more info to answer the question properly.

There is definately an asnwer to your question in the search menu........

Hope this helps.

I thought the format had to be converted to Video_TS(I heard it mentioned earlier but I never heard of this format myself). I am probably going to be backing up my commercial DVDs on a single layer CD also. But all I want to do is burn movies on a single layer CD that is 100% viewable on a DVD(hopefully menus too if thats possible)I just need to know what format(s) I need to have them in and if I can do that in Finder, if not is there any freeware I could use. Thanks

VIDEO_TS is not a format. On a standard DVD, there are two folders, VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. AUDIO_TS is usually empty because it's deprecated. VIDEO_TS contains several files, but the main meat of it (the video itself) are .VOB format. I believe it's some sort of MPEG variation, not sure.

The only issue you might run into when burning onto a DVD+R is lack of compatibility in home DVD players. I wish I could find out how to do bitsetting on the Mac Pro's DVD burner (Optiarc AD7170A) so when it burns DVDs, it makes it look like a true DVD-ROM.

So toast makes this "video_ts" folder on your DVD automatically?

I'm also looking at Toast, I need a way to burn JVC camcorder footage to dvd as a backup, prior to chopping it up in iMovie. Problem is, none of these large files will fit onto a single DVD, and neither can be moved to external drives.

Does anyone know of a free or affordable program that will burn data across multiple DVDs or CDs (like Toast 8's data spanning)?

Thanks in adavance!
