Why can't change software instrument setting in Garage Band ?

Hello ,

I have been using GB ( 10.3.3 ) , recently ( the last week or so ) it wont let me change the setting for the software instruments ( it works once in a while , but I cant seen to located any type of pattern .
I am using a mid 2011 21.5 inch iMac ( High Sierra 10.13.6. ) 12 GB DDR3 and a 500GB SSD .

I have deleted the app and reinstalled , opened different projects , created new ones , restarted the computer . reinstalled the sound library. nothing seems to fix the problem .

Anyone have any ideas or have to same problem ?
