Safari seems to have a very emotional following that I'll never understand. I'm not attached to any of them.
I agree, in fact Apple has a very emotional group that is unique in itself. One can go to the great majority of other forums and not encounter the emotional outbursts very common in the Apple community. One is free to express their opinions without being attacked in an especially juvenile way. But then again it's these very individuals that make it quite entertaining. There's nothing quite like watching someone get so wound up over a piece of equipment :)

Only ever single speed test I have ever run comparing the two (please note that I didn't actually save them but will start if you really want the stats). Chrome consistently performed better. Compatability wise you are, of course, correct because they use the same base. The UI may be uncluttered but it is also very poor IMO. I'm not sure what to say to you. There's just no way that given the better speed, far better UI and equal compability that I could find an reasonable way to think that Safari was worthwhile.

Safari seems to have a very emotional following that I'll never understand. I'm not attached to any of them. Just like I wasn't attached to Windows. I compare, test for myself and pick the best to do the job. I truly don't care who the development team works for or which company is behind a product.
Contrary to the way I have presented myself, I am not a Safari user.

Fair enough - Safari may not perform as well as Chrome on certain tests but it still much faster than other browsers. It beats out IE, Firefox and Opera (although the 10.5 beta is giving it a run for it's money). It integrates into the OS better than any other browser. My question for you is this: how is the UI poor?

I use Safari. I think it's brilliant on a Mac, and I find it a lot faster than other browsers.

Safari 4 gets it done 99% of the time. It is a great browser with clean, simple features and has very good speed. But sometimes Firefox is required to display the odd website properly. If you have both, you should never have any problems with the web :)

I use Webkit, I like to get a fresh copy everyday. It's faster, I have it tweaked with GreaseKit, plus love watching videos HTML5 on Youtube instead of crappy flash.

Wow - this is TOTALLY a personal choice matter. People always tell me how bad Vista sucks. As for me, I love Vista. I have never had a single problem, BSOD, hand, shutdown, etc. on Vista, and I have run it since they put it out. I cannot even boast that on my beloved MacBook! So.........whatever works for you is the best!

I've been using Firefox over Safari. Tried Safari, it's pretty good, but missing something that my Firefox with GrApple theme installed, I can't do without. Firefox gives me 3 finger swipe Home and End key replacement, Safari doesn't. Come on Apple get with it. How hard is it to add that option.

To check the last comment of a thread, I just swipe down Bam! end of page, skipped through all the old post :)

BTW, GrApple theme mimic the look of OS X and Safari to a T

Or you could turn up your 2 finger scrolling speed and scroll down in one 2 finger swipe... like I do... 3 finger swipes are for left and right for paging through stuff!

I am having some real problems with safari, even sent bugs to Apple. I will not open links about 2 layers down in e-mail, says Safari is not connect with the internet, also this morning, Safari would not load my home page, Reference, Facts, News - Free and Family-friendly Resources - Refdesk.com while this is a huge page, it went into the beach ball mode and I finally had to do a force quit and then used FF and it loaded my home page instantly.
Maybe this post should be some where else, but I think I will be switching back to FF after a try with Safari.

The differences between CHROME and Safari are minimal in the so called Speed Tests. In fact vary depending on the computer they are run on. On Some Safari wins the tests and on others Chrome. Both though are by a very slim margin.

My new favorite browser though is Opera 10.5.

Opera 10.5 is shaping up to be a fantastic browser for the Mac. Universal builds are back too for those of you using PPC Macs and interested in Opera 10.5.

I still use Firefox. In my opinion the best Browser out there for the Mac. But occassionally I'll use safari too. It's easily the 2nd best out there.

It's also argued to be its greatest weakness. I've read some reviews before of people saying that without extensions, Firefox is not anywhere near close to the same level of browsing quality of other browsers. I'm not sure I agree with that but the extensions do compensate for some things.

Firefox here. I would switch between FF and Safari for a while, as I felt guilty for not using Safari, but FF is just too good not to use. The plug-ins (Ad-Block, mainly), speed, etc, I use primarily Firefox now.

I use Firefox, mainly because I use Firefox at work. So it feels seamless going back and forth.
