weird, i voted on this, but never answered.
after a few months of owning the macbook, i've settled on safari. tried firefox (which was my browser fo choice on xp), but just found myself opeing safari more often. i do also have IE on the macbook. just wanted to try it. it's actually not bad on windows (other than that it's security seems to be modeled after swiss cheese). i don't really use it at all.

Hmmmm...I've been fiddling with FF since last night. Couple of things I don't like when comparing to Safari...first I'm a message board freak and the spell checker which it works fine here doesn't seem to automatically spell chek on another forum I visit (Safari does) when in the "reply" box...I have to right click and choose "Spell check this"...this is probably due to a problem with the skin that forum uses BUT Safari doesn't have that problem and it's a big deal to me.
Plus FF doesn't seem to handle cookies as well in some cases. Like going to the first unread post on some forums it kinda jumps around before settling somewhere and even then it might not be right on he first unread post.
Anyway, I'm gonna fiddle some more. FF 2.0 is definitely an improvement though.

I switch on and off between Safari and FF. I used Safari on my G5, then I switched to my HP laptop for a bit (for school purposes), so now that I have my MBP I'm used to both. Most of the time I just use FF because it's my default browser and I'm used to it.

I just stumbled onto this new browser and you need to really try it. load time is very fast, web videos on cnn.com etc all play fluid and fast, page load times are insanely fast compared to others ive tried and the thing is like 2 megs in size. It's an unfortunate thing that we can only vote once. Right now I'm using several browsers to find my favorite. After over two weeks now, I have found FireFox and Opera to be about equal, although I like FireFox better, mainly because I've used it for so long on the Windows platform. Safari is just a touch behind FireFox, Opera, and OmniWeb for a couple reasons - it doesn't render the website that manages my pay, it doesn't allow me to move the floating windows on my bank website, and it doesn't display the hit counter on my website (outdated link removed) properly. Unfortunately, FireFox consistently uses 70-90MB of RAM while running, in contrast to 50 for Safari, and only 30 for SunriseBrowser.

On the PC I use Firefox almost exclusively, only opening Internet Explorer for pages which don't work with Firefox, which is very few these days.
On the Mac I am still undecided. When I first got my MacBook I downloaded FF immediately expecting much the same as the PC version, but I was a bit disappointed. FF was slow to load up, the interface looked a bit Windows-ish (ugh), and it crashes regularly on MySpace (this probably has something to do with peoples poor coding. I tried Opera, Camino, Safari and OmniWeb and settled on Camino for about a month. However, there were some things such as flash sites which Camino has trouble displaying and it was just getting annoying, so recently I have moved over to Safari.
Although, I am not to sure about Safari now...on the university network it keeps losing its connection. This maybe the uni network, or it maybe Safari, I don't know yet.
So Safari for now. Also, I love Safari's smooth scrolling, FF's scrolling just annoys me!
