I use safari generally unless Im looking up porn (what?) in which case I use firefox as the "clear history" option seems to be alot more effective compared to safari (or internet explorer mind you). Both of those seem to still show your past searches beginning with whatever letter you press. At least when I click clear history on firefox its quite simply gone.

I didn't go through the whole thread but safari has a cool feature called private browsing so even if you were to download LOL porn or anything else private it would poof out of your downloads folder and instead of clearing your history; it would be like you NEVER went to those sites
much better in my opinion

Is there any way that I can get internet explorer these days? I need to log on to a specific website and it doesn't work correctly in safari, firefox, and opera. Are there any other browsers that I should try if I can't get IE on my mac?

Yes, Safari is the browser for me, there are no up to date mac versions of Explorer which seems to be the browser of the world and is supported with so many online sites and other.

Firefox, but just like this poll, it's tough to pick. I give Firefox the edge because of add on's. I like being able to look at the weather from the browser, it seems more accurate then the middle button. Also add blocking.

However Safari is necessary on some web sites. I play Monopoly now at Club Pogo where they have that never ending message that says, "Important Mac Users....blah blah...we are working on it."

Yeah right. You've been working on it for sometime now. The holiday is over, get it fixed!

Anyway Firefox will not work well on some games there and I have to use Safari. I would like to have only one browser but apparently I will have to continue using two.

I am still playing with both Safari and Firefox. I like the themes available in Firefox, and haven't found anything similar for Safari, so the jury is still out as to which I will end up using primarily.

I've changed from Safari (with Safari Block) to Firefox 3 with 'Grapple Yummy' theme, Fission, AdBlcok Plus, No Script, Stealther, Customize Google, Greasemonkey and DragDropUpload.
Safari just doesn't cut it against Firefox.

I spent about 2 hours on Sunday fiddling about with various browsers, and the nearest that comes to IE behaviour, I've found, is iCab iCab - Internet Taxi for the Mac. You can adjust the way it 'behaves' in respect of certain websites.

I use Safari on my Mac. I tried to use FireFox 3, but I just kept going back to Safari.

It's clean, fast and pretty elegant.

At work I use IE7, Safari didn't feel right on Win XP and I didn't really like FF either.

I've tried out nearly every web browser there is. Name it, and I've probably used it.

Firefox all the way. It's fast, highly customizable, and has better compatibility with some websites then Safari.

ie4OSX is another option, I think it's a Mac port of IE 6

I have downloaded Firefox and told my MacBook to make it (Firefox) my main browser, but every time I start up my Mac, the Firefox icon is gone from the dashboard and the icon is gone from the screen and I have to open it through the downloads icon. Why?? How can I make it my main browser, and the icon always on the screen and dashboard. (I choose Firefox because Safari is not compatible with Ebay - it does not display the EBAY ad description toolbar while Firefox does)

Thanks.

I use Safari 95% of the time now. I only use firefox when I'm bored (StumbleUpon). I used to use Firefox all the time, but now I prefer Safari.

1. It is still in downloads because you have not installed it. You need to open a Finder window and drag the FF icon to your applications folder.

2. I 'assume' you mean that it disappears from the dock. Once you have it open, right click on the icon in the dock and select 'Keep in Dock'.

3. It is not that Safari is not compatible with eBay's toolbar, it is that eBay has not written the code to be compatible with Safari. 3rd party apps must always write the code to be compatible with that software they desire their app to be used with.

4. If having it in the dock all the time is just not enough and you require that extremely bad windows habit of having a bunch of junk littering up the desktop, go into the Applications folder, right click on the FF icon and select 'Create Alias'. You can then move that to the desktop.
