Yeah, this is just crazy! Zero lag on anything, and my son is very happy. I would have to hear daily how slow Comcast was and how is games were lagging all the time. Last night he comes up and goes "uh, this internet is awesome!" As long as I can keep the wife and kids happy that is most of the battle. The price is spot on for what we are getting too. Just $4 more than Comcast was.

Well, this is a LONG thread and not sure of how much use to many of us except for 'braggadocio rights' - just saying? The most important points are a balance between the fastest internet speed (especially DL) vs. what one may be paying which is typically an inverse relationship - right? So, first the speed one may need into a home network depends on what is being done there, i.e. just internet, streaming, games and how many users need these services. Second, how much is one paying for these faster services whether needed or not?

For myself, I'm on cabled copper into my home on a Time-Warner 'turbo' cable plan costing what is shown below, i.e. $45 USD/monthly for about 22 Mbps (using Speed Test) - now for the two of us this is adequate for our needs, i.e. internet & streaming audio (like Pandora & Spotify) and video (usually Amazon or Netflix) - SO, do I really need to go to the next level ($20 more/monthly for 50 Mbps), well probably not - NOW, I'm just thinking here out loud - saving some money for me could be much better spent in going out to a good restaurant and eating some great oysters! Seven years wait for the National Broadband Network Rollout thanks to our conservative government not spending any more money after doing major cities. I guess they have snared most of the voters, and the rest can go hang! The National Carrier, Telstra, has ISP by the short and curlies. Only let them into country exchanges 'if there are adequate ports' i.e. more than they can sell.

And $50.00 pm for 20GB limit which drops back to 256k after usage exceed limit.?

Hi Harry - boy, I feel your pain - reminds me of the dial-up days on an old telephone modem, especially while we were traveling - Wi-Fi networks are such a relief now for us - sorry for the grief - Dave

Where we used to live…we were paying about $180/month for the cable TV/phone/internet bundle (had 15Mbps download internet). Where we are now we pay about $120/month for the same cable TV/phone/internet…but we now get 150Mbps internet (10x faster). Local competition for customers, different services available, and the local infrastructure (telephone line, cable lines, fiberoptic lines, etc.)…certainly seem to play a big role in price.

From a Mbps/$$$ perspective…we now pay far less than we used to. But overall cost of living where we are now is wayyyy more!!!

Hi Eric... - you're not really providing us any information about your internet speeds - your profile states that you are in the United States and you are using a website for a ping test that takes you to ** Chi Minh City, 2350 miles away - WHOA! Plus, I'm not familiar at all w/ Quadrant Televentures, location, type of service in your plan, and reliability of the ISP?

If you want to contribute w/ an image of your internet speeds, then go to the Speedtest Net, and run your test there - a close server will be chosen and the results will be accurate; e.g. below is the current testing of my laptop - my DL speed is nearly 25 Mbps (I'm paying for 20 Mbps); UL speeds are typically much lower (mine have always been by about a factor of 10 using Time-Warner as my ISP); also the server used is Greensboro, NC (not shown on my screen capture, but only about a 40 minute drive for me). SO - give this site a test and post your results. Dave

At the end of the speed test, you're offered the option to "Share" and if you click on it, it will give you a link that you can copy and paste into a forum to share it. No need for further tooling around with dropbox.
