what's the best way to....

I run a mini as my main computer with OS X.4.11. I have a large external harddrive hooked to it and use a 37" lcd tv for the monitor in my living room... we use it for all our computing, t.v., movies, internet, photo's etc..... I have my cable (for the internet) coming into a wireless linksys router.

I recently got my old imac up and running X.3.9. The older imac does not have airport that I can tell.

I want to network these computers together so I can see files off either of them from the other and share the internet connection. What are my options to do this wirelessly with the old imac?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.... and keep in mind I'm fairly ignorant in the computer world as you're explaining things to me.

Maybe the USB wireless could work for you if an internal card won't.

Your imac should have an AirPort connection somewhere on the machine depending on which model iMac you have. Since your Mini is already on a Linksys WiFi Router I suggest trying to get your hands on an AirPort card for the iMac so that you have less configuartion and setup to do.

With that said you have to think of where you plan on having the iMac. If its next tot he Linksys WiFi Router then a simple RJ-45 (Network Cable) will work best. But if your imac is in another room or far away from the Linksys device then for sure the AirPort card would be best (even if it is 11MBps Airport Original).

If you are not sure where to check on your iMac to see if you have an AirPort slot or not let us know which model you have.

It's the style of imac with the computer looking like half a ball and the chrome arm holding the monitor on top of it. Where do I look to see if there's an airport slot?
