I am a radiologist who is currently using a proprietary medical imaging software which is PC based on dual high res. screens - the main screen being 6 year old 30" Dell. I need to continue to use the the PC based software for one of my offices but would like add the 27" iMac to work from my other offices which use different imaging sotware. I would also use the iMac as my person computer. What kind of KVP switch would I need in order to set up a workstation using the 30" Dell, and the 27" iMAc screen in a dual monitor screen set-up using 1 mouse and keyboard.
Thanks

I would check to see if your dell monitor has both a SVGA and a DVI port. I do this on my 24" Dell, with the Mac on the DVI side, and a media center on the SVGA side. Then I just use the dell menu to switch inputs. If this is the case, you won't need a KVM switch.

Are you still planning on using the PC on the 30" screen? If so, then if I interpret this correctly, you want to also use the same keyboard and mouse for both systems, as well as use the 30" monitor as the primary one for the PC, and as a secondary one for the iMac.

Instead of continuing to use the PC, have you considered ditching the PC and instead using VMware to run Windows inside a virtual environment in OS X? With this set up, you could run the VM on the 30" monitor in full-screen mode and effectively function as if you were on the PC. When not needing it, just minimize the VM (or pause it) and continue to use that 30" monitor as a 2nd desktop in OS X.
