What the heck is the Photos File command; Show referenced file in finder for?

iPhoto used to have a File command; Reveal in Finder > Original or Modified.
Photos does not have this command but it does have, Show Referenced File in
Finder but it remains greyed out no mater how or where I select a picture.
Just what is this command for and how is it used.

Give this article a quick read. It seems that this option finds files that have not yet been pulled into the Photos library. The first post here may explain things better.

Thank you slydude, those two articles answer all my questions. It really seems like Apple does not want us fiddling around within the photoslibrary. Still I admit that the drag and drop function is a better alternative to creating copies within the originals folder which is what I occasionally did. If for example I wanted a photo for an avatar I would find it in iPhoto, click show original in finder, copy the photo, drag it to the desktop and use something like Preview to resize it. When I discovered about a year ago that I could just drag from the iPhoto window to the desktop I was somewhat embarrassed. It's amazing what one doesn't know sometimes.:Blushing:
