iMac, iPad, MacBook Pro.
Picked up an iMac yesterday at 2pm, intentionally for my wife to use in the lounge connected to my home wireless LAN. 30 hours later and she's still waiting for a turn on it :)

I've loaded windows on the iMac so we don't have to splash out for excel, word etc. but am investigating alternatives but my point is - Please could my PC crash and burn so i can go out and get my own iMac - After I let 'er indoors have a few days on cough her cough iMac she'll see the logic behind why I MUST also have one.

Enjoy

Sipper

I wouldnt worry about Microsoft Word, have you tried "Neo Office" it does most I find, and its free......cant be bad. I noticed the other day that Microsoft Office is now over £300 in the UK, now that Sucks.

I bought my Macbook through the my school computer school. The College of Education uses Macs. They only had the basic white or the black Macbook. I chose the basic white Macbook, because I didn't need the upgraded features since I bought a Vaio desktop and I have an external hard drive.

I paid about a grand for my Macbook (Core Duo), Office, Inspiration, Kidspiration, iLife, and a bunch of other software. If I waited another semester I could've gotten the higher end white Macbook with Core 2 Duo and software for the same price

I primarily use my Macbook for papers and I'm still trying to figure out Inspiration and a couple of other Apple programs. No complaints with my Macbook, but I need a replacement for my dead ipod. . .

I like to take both sides of everything! for example cell phones, I tried every major cellphone on the market. All the symbian os's, sony ericsson, and some proprietary cell phone os's. And of all of them i fell in love with windows mobile. It does crash and freeze just like pc's but its the most customizable and i can do so much with it! no one dare mention the iphone because thats strictly a multimedia device and i use mine fore internet (i get 3g in austin) and email too much to consider switching to an Iphone when released.

So i fried my pc's motherboard by overclocking and decided why not try mac to see what all the fuss is about... When i first got it the only downfall was that it wasn't that compatible with my windows mobile phone with missing sync. My microsoft exchange server wasn't setting up properly with entourage either. But i just today installed xp through parallels and found a fix for the exchange server issue i was having. So now all is muy bueno!

I'm a power user on every thing i use, cell phones, mp3 players, heck i can even cause my microwave to freeze!! (actually i can't but that'd be funny) anyways i'm running 1 gig ram and it jitters every now and then so once i upgrade to 2gig ram I should be set!

My xp laptop died and I went shopping. First vista laptop with amd proc: slow, and locked up, returned it.....second vista laptop, crashed and wouldn't recover after two days, was slow when it ran...third vista laptop (sony vaio) fairly quick, 1.5 minute startup, poor wifi quality, took it back....then I said SCREW IT! Despite the sales people at Frys telling me not to get a mac, I made the leap. It takes 15 SECONDS to startup, and doesn't have all the virus/spyware issues, and rarely does a program lock up. When it does, FORCE QUIT ALWAYS WORKS. The same could not be said for control alt delete in windows, where often a restart was needed.

So glad I switched. While the mac is no gaming machine, and I have to keep an old windows box around for my AutoCAD work, all of the things I love to do are done on my macbook. Wife loves it too.

If I had to decribe it in one word it would be, STABLE. Of course, with an OS built on the UNIX core, that shouldn't come as a surprise. As I mentioned to a mac hater the other day, UNIX is what runs our phone systems, the internet, as well as super-computers. Microsoft can't touch unix for stability and security. Websites that once hijacked my whole computer (XP), are powerless against OSX.

No regrets.

See Signature.
1. Security. Never realized how secure they were until I had actually used one.
2. Compatibility. Pretty much everything I did on my crappy PC I can do here.
3. Reliability. Enough said.

Tired of the updates making things stop work. Plus, when I found out the history behind how Bill Gates came to be, I got a little mad and won't be buying another Microsoft product. *Besides my Xbox 360 =)*

I went totally mac at Christmas because my hubby got me the amazing 27" iMac. I wouldn't go back if you paid me - nothing but slow downs, virus scares, crashes, and I never even bothered going more than 5 minutes with Vista I stayed with XP. Takes a little getting used to but I'm learning :)

And I love the Mac vs Pc commercials

I also like not having to be paranoid about getting infected. I set the firewall to "On" and full stealth mode, turn off sharing, and feel very safe.

Please share the story,

and I choose mac because

Looks
Reliability
Customer service
Shopping experience.

I think that when you go to the store and buy the laptop you feel better about your purchase. Something makes you feel like you made an awesome choice when you walk out with a briefcase looking box. I was talking to my uncle and i feel A BIG part of Apple's success is knowing how to make a customer feel RIGHt about their purchase's.

1. They're awfully purty
2. The picture quality/monitors look better than any I've ever seen
3. The OS looks awfully purty, clean, and orderly
4. The Apple reputation for stability, reliability, clean design, programs that work seamlessly with each other, and security
5. They are plenty of computer for me and have top notch components
6. They come with software that's actually very very useful, fun, and easy to use
7. Apple seems to put a significant amount more effort into designing a well thought out computer than other manufacturers
8. I've never had a Mac before and I just wanted to try one

I had the typical point of view a lot of computer users have, 'for that price I could get a powerful Windows computer'. Then I had a job doing simple configurations and troubleshooting and regularly used Mac's. In short I was quickly seduced.

I know it sounds like a commercial tag line, but every time I answer a friends question as to why I switched, I simply say to them: "It just works". I started with a 20" iMac 3 years ago, and now also have a white MacBook. Have never looked back ......... and they look cool too :)

Basically I loved the ipod and itunes so much and had quite bad experience with PCs that I didn't really think I had much to lose. Plus as everyone's already mentioned, they just look nice :D
