I was going through my MacBook Air and came across this document --

BCPrivateDatabase.bcck

Usually when I search for files/terms I get a bunch of hits but I can't find anything online about it. It shows that it was created only a few days ago. Is this a security concern? When I try to open it, I get the message:

There is no application set to open the document "BCPrivateDatabase.bcck"

Thank you!!

Where did you find this document? Depending on where you found it, we can surmise how it got there.

One possibility is that it's a backup of your private cloud database.

Welcome to the forum.

I think it's associated with the app Books, from Apple. And it's in a subfolder of ~/Library, your library file. Nothing to worry about.

Have you found any methods to read its data? I'm wondering how to open it

A warm welcome to Mac-Forums. And thank you for your post.

The last post to this thread was about 15 months ago.

The suggestion then was that there was nothing much to worry about. (#3)

My suggestion is that if you want to have a deeper discussion on this, it might be better to start a new thread - which should include exact details of your Mac (Year/OS/ etc) and how/when that problem occurred.

It could be that yours is quite different in detail from the original poster.

With no guarantee that it might work other than possibly viewing some machine code language, you could try opening it from within a text editor such as TextEdit or any good free text editor or even a copy of bbed if you have one.

Don't be surprised if it does open, nothing but code text shows up which probably won't mean much to you. But it might appease your curiosity. 😉
