i'm really into Nintendo gamecube at the moment

if you can look past the often cartoony kiddy graphics the actual gameplay on most of the popular titles is Really Good ;D

the best thing is the bargain basement prices on consoles & games at the moment so a decent collection/library of games can be built pretty cheaply
the controllers are also (IMO) one of the best out there :)

if you wanted something a tad less mainstream the Sega Dreamcast was way ahead of its time with some surprisingly good exclusive titles ;D

Hey man, I'm with ya on the GameCube. I still have mine. Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime are amazing looking on it, given how old the console is. In fact, I'm gonna go play some Metroid Prime right now...

As for Sega, I've been looking for a Dreamcast and a Sega Saturn (Panzer Dragoon owns!) for ages with no luck :(

I miss my Master System and my Intellivision. :(

just take a browse on ebay, always plenty to choose from. Dreamcast stuff seems to be very cheap atm
i have noticed with the gamecubes for sale is you're better off looking at a "bundle". games on their own, especially the good ones sell well but a bundle of console, handsets, memory cards & leads etc often come with a few games that if bought individually would add up to a lot more!
like this you also get a backup console if anything does ever go wrong but apart from the very occasional laser prob you never really ever hear of a cube breaking down. Nintendo make good hardware :Smirk:

Ive been playing a game that just came out on pc lately called Torchlight. To describe this game Think Diablo 3 with world of warcraft graphics and quests. There are so many similarities between the music and quests and graphics you can just tell some folks at blizzard was involved.

i wasnt sure I was going to like it at first the character selection screen was cell shading and just looked a little cartoony but once I got into the game and into the dungeons it was really sweet. I was like whoa diablo with warcraft graphics.

oddly enough this game even has a netbook setting. so I wonder what netbooks could handle it.

Same here, I totally got my worth out of a 48-hr trial card the other day, but yeah, back to Silver for me.

punkr0x0r is my tag if you wanna add me.

Furthermore, does any one have a 48-hr Xbox Live trial card I can have? Left4Dead 2 is for Gold members only (for now), and I wanna download it. I'd love you forever if any one could hook me up :)

I think I know what you mean eric.
I've played Baldur's Gate (haven't got too far into it), played Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 (haven't got too for into em either) and bought Mass Effect, but lent it to my bro before I actually did anything worthwhile.

I was told by many that BG and NWN 1 + 2 were great rpg's, but for some reason I just found them to be "eh". Never really got into the whole table top conversion to game mechanic thing Bioware is famous for.
I was thinking about picking up Dragon Age, but I'm still going to wait on it.

As for me, I've been playing Uncharted 2 online (so awesome, anyone who wants to play co-op hit me up on psn: BiffyWang, as well as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
So far, the single player experience is kind of rough. The story isn't really there, but the situations you're placed in are some of the craziest that really push the boundaries. There is actually a warning at the beginning of the game letting people bypass the first part altogether, and I can see why. That's probably why the beginning feels a bit disjointed, guess they didn't want to put too much in the beginning when they give an option to skip it.

Whew.... just finished Modern Warfare 2 on Regular mode. Not easy!

Although the "port" over to the PC was definitely lacking (particularly the shoddy menus before the game starts), the graphics and the storyline did not disappoint. You know it's a good game when a level finishes and you're out of breath and blinking your eyes (because you haven't done so for 10 minutes at a time).

What a game... and definitely one I will play again, next time on Veteran. The scenes in D.C. and suburban Maryland were amazing. The only bad thing was how scripted it was, and occasionally the game takes over in certain scenes, and in others, you need to participate when you think you might not have to. For example, when you jump across a chasm, only to strike into the ice with your climbing hammers - sometimes you're supposed to be doing the click-and-hold maneuver, sometimes not. It's really kind of distracting.

Anyway, despite all of the bad press about the PC version and multiplayer, I found it to be well-worth it and can't wait for the next sequel.

I played it on 1920x1080 on a 2.33GHz C2D, with a single EVGA 8800GT card. With all of the eye candy turned on, it ran just fine. For some reason, the game decided to put me in 1024x768 when it first started, but I bumped it up to native resolution and it ran like a top.

Torchlight was fun for a while, D3 will still kill though. It's missing multi player support and I think tweaking the drop rate would make the game flow faster. As it stands now, the drop rate is incredibly high and most of it's junk, so it's either collect, sort, identify, go to town, sell, and head back every 15 minutes or try and sort on the fly and inevitably miss out on gear you could use. It kind of kills the pacing of the game if you're tempted to pick up everything.

DA:O is great on PC. I've heard that controls and graphics just aren't so hot on the consoles for this, but unless it's and exclusive console release, I usually pick up RPGs for the PC since the control scheme is easier. I beat it once already and I've since started a second and third character to run through the game with. I think it's a blast.

The story line gets interesting and there's a lot of moral choices that can lead on way or another, having consequences over the rest of the game, and not just in a limited scope that some RPGs seem to do; where a choice appears to have ramifications, but beyond that scene of the game, there's nothing.

I think I know what you mean eric.

The Baldur's Gate series is awesome, but I grew up on games like that and ultima, and D&D computer games.

NWN1 was kind of a let down, but 2 is great. I lost one of the DVD's some how and ended up picking up the new edition with all the expansions. It has a great story with a pretty large scope. I like how you eventually get your own land and castle and stuff and what you do through out the game determines your army's allies and the condition of your keep and residents.

Mass Effect and DA:O have systems unrelated to D&D which keep things moving pretty smoothly. I thought Mass Effect had an awesome story line. Once you start getting into the games, and the plot starts being revealed, some of these great games end up being really compelling.

Unlike a lot of action games, it just takes a little bit more to get into them, but they're very rewarding.

Played and beat MW:2 the day it was released. I have Demons Soul's which is awesome, but difficult. Picked up Borderlands but haven't had much time to play it. Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are my next two scores.
