I mindlessly pressed and held SHIFT while clicking the trackpad in Safari; my cursor was hovering over a hyperlink when I did that, and I saw a grey coloured Safari icon emerge from the hyperlink and fly up to the top left hand corner of the screen.

Does anyone know what that was?

I think that is an addition to your reading list. Click on "View" and "Show sidebar" to see what is in your reading list.

Well, whether or not this is what happened to the OP, this prompted me to look at my Reading List. I have not intentionally added things to it, nor has my better half. But, there are a half-dozen things in it. (@ Big Byte: Is this your situation as well?) No harm, but I have no idea how they got there, and haven't looked into how to delete them.

One item has a message telling me that I am using an unsupported browser, even though we're talking about Safari here, and I just updated to 14 .4.1 yesterday. So I suppose that is an old message, but still, it's Safari, which should be up to date with the OS, whatever it is or was.

You can delete items from the Reading List by swiping left with 2 fingers, and then clicking on delete.

Thanks for the help, everyone!
