The health food store where I shop has this double whammy ginger beer (non-alcoholic) that will zap your taste buds.

So dark and thick? :bomb:

No. Irish :D

Seriously though, if I see a hot woman, I see a hot woman, doesn't matter where she's from.

I use that quote often in bars.
If I order a Guinness, I quickly add on "I like my beer like I like my women"
If someone replies "What, dark and thick?"
I reply "No. Irish." and vice versa.
Sometimes I like to really mess with people and go "No. Imported.":tusks:

To stay back on topic.
Here's a quick easy recipe for the summer time. Not really original, but good regardless.

Large beer mug.
Fill it up 2/3 with Breyers 'Double Churned' Ice cream. For you chocolate lovers out there, like me, I typically fill it up with about 2/5 chocolate, 3/5 vanilla.
Fill the rest of the mug with whole milk. Mix until smooth, like a milkshake.
Once your done mixing, there should be some room left over for some rum.
I call it the "heart attack inducing hard milk and ice cream mix"

i noticed that Obtruse also avoids high fructose corn syrup.

is anyone else besides us making the concious effort to avoid this stuff like the plague?

(i also prefer cane sugar to beet sugar, but that's a different story ;))

Only during Passover. That's when REAL Coke appears. Some places will produce Kosher Coke; it's made with cane sugar, not hfcs. ^_^ Around here it's in 2 litre bottles with yellow caps and the appropriate markings for being Kosher. I haven't seen it yet this year, but it's time.

I'll drink whatever you put in front of me! (Usually.)

Dr. Pepper is by far my favorite drink. It makes the world taste better.

Indeed.

At the moment, I'm trying to drink more Crystal Springs bottled water and less of everything else. So far, I'm succeeding at the first part more than the second.

leecho, the "half-and-half' you enjoy is referred to round these parts as an "Arnold Palmer." In fact, they've started to put the stuff in cans with Arnie's photo on it.

I also avoid HFCS wherever possible. I made a conscious decision to cut my carb intake and HFCS is a huge offender-- I have a real weakness for Coca-Cola Classic--- and I can't wait for the Kosher Coke to arrive in the stores this year. (It's about that time-- here in Chicago we get it in 2-litre bottles and six-packs of cans!)

I also avoid aspartame like the plague. It makes me feel weird (well, "weird-er" :).

Anyway, we're talking drinks here:

Non-alcoholic
---
- water
- tea (standard Lipton, or Earl Grey-- I recently dropped Tazo Awake because it started to upset my stomach really badly)
- coffee
- double-tall, nonfat, no-whip mocha (standard S'bux "treat" order)
- doppio (alternative S'bux order)
- Antarctica Guarana (when I want the full sugar and guarana jolt-- and yes, I am aware that it has HFCS)

Alcoholic
---
- Wine, primarily Meritages and Cabs
- A true, Hemingway-style daquiri made with 10 Cane rum
- Ketel One Dirty Martini
- Ketel One and the mixer that moves me at the moment
- Modelo Especial

Frankly, as someone with a serious sweet tooth, I've found sucralose (Splenda) to be a lifesaver (and yes, I've seen the web sites sponsored by the sugar companies that talk about the horrible, horrible things that sucralose can do to you).

Agave nectar is mostly fructose and is a great alternative, but still has 5g of carbs per teaspoon, 1g more than a tsp of your standard Domino granulated sugar.

All that said, I'm a real fan of the other product you get from Agave. :)

Alcoholic:
Heffeweizen of most varieties is delectable.
I'm from the Seattle area - aka microbrew heaven, so there are a ton of local varieties of everything that are delicious. I'm not a drunk drinker, I only partake on occasion, usually with a good dinner.

Not a wine drinker, but I do enjoy rum & Coke and Whiskey, particularly Jack Daniel's, some scotch ie. Chevas Regal. Nothing fancy, but one can drink well overseas on a $20/day budget.

Go Navy!

Stateside... I rarely drink besides a beer here and there. I drink a lot of coffee and a lot of orange juice, but that's about it. 3 bottles of watter each way on my ride to/from work is thrown into the mix, but I, too don't drink much of anything with HFCS. BTW, the only orange juice I drink is Tropicana or Florida's Natural, the only two carried around here that is no kidding HFCS free and 100% juice not from concentrate.

I'm addicted to Coke.

As for alcohol...

Beer - Corona or Stella when I'm out.
Bourbon - Woodford Reserve (my absolute fav), Wild Turkey 101, and Maker's Mark
Other - Southern Comfort 100 proof
