Hi,

I have this weird number beside "Daniel Botelho's Macbook" in finder. This number is 5 and yesterday it was 4. Previously, it had been 3....it keeps increasing for some reason?? Anyone know what this number means? I have attached a photo. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Welcome to Mac Forums
I've not seen this before, so I'm of no help unfortunately, but I am interested to hear what it is when someone comes along with an answer.
Typing this is also my way of bumping it up a little so it doesn't get looked past :)

Did you recently upgrade your OS? (which you didn't identify)

Was there a time when you didn't have this number showing up? Can you trace it back to something else you installed?

Hi

No I did not recently upgrade my operating system. I have Mac OS X Version 10.5.8. Yes there was a time when there was no number appearing and no I can't trace it back to anything I installed.

Thanks for the replies

Try googling it?

Ask at the Genius Bar?

Got a clone of the OS on an external drive by chance?

Tried googling it, don't think it's worth my time to ask the Genius Bar. I'm not concerned about it, just curious. And no I don't have any clones of the OS.

I got rid of the number simply by editing the name of my computer, but I still would like to know what it was and why it kept increasing. It might even come back too, who knows.

Thanks for all the replies
