Weird E-Mails

Please move this if it is in the wrong forum. Sometimes I receive e-mails that look like this....

What causes this and is there anything that I can dome stop it? Thanks,

For what it is worth - it looks to me like an email advertisement from Amazon and your email app is either failing to interpret or blocking the download of the content attached to it.

One thing that concerns me is that amazon is sending you recommendations based on previous purchases. I have been an Amazon buyer for years - like when all they sold was books. I have never gotten an email from them suggesting items based on what I previously bought. Usually I get then when I visit the site and they appear on the screen as recommendations. But the links seen to be going to legitimate Amazon webpage products although the facebook link does not seem to work.

There might have been some way you indicated you wanted them to send them to you. I did look through my account setting and I could not find anything that indicates emails from Amazon preferences. I don't see a way to opt out of the emails from your post. If there is no option, I would call them and tell them you want to opt out if that is what you want or at least to check if they are valid.

Thanks Lisa, I get them from other companies too, Best Buy, sometimes for one. They don't really bother me, just thought something might be wrong with my iMac.

It would not worry me. You can junk them or if it allows - opt out.

Just a quick note here about Amazon and purchases from them....

Amazon will send out email asking you to rate a product that you recently purchased from them. And usually, at the same time will recommend similar items to you for your consideration. You can opt out of that solicitation by going to your account and scanning thru the options offered. I also own an Amazon credit card so you can imagine how often they solicit me for business.
