I need to view a radiograph that comes on a disk along with the weasis viewer for Mac. I get the following message. The Weasis launcher was unable to find an installation of Java 1.6 or better, which is needed to run Weasis. Java 1.6 comes with Mac OS X 10.5 and later versions. Either upgrade to a more recent version of Mac OS X or manually install Java 1.6 (if your system supports it).
However, i have Yosemite and have downloaded the latest Java but i still get the same message.
Can anyone help?

The latest version of Java is much newer than version 6 so this might be the reason why. You can get version 6 here.

Thanks for that Vansmith, I downloaded Java 6 and that sorted the problem. Do I now have both versions of Java on my Mac or has the download of 6 erased the 8 that I downloaded before? If so will that cause problems with other applications?

I'm honestly not sure about that. If you execute the following into a Terminal window, what do you get (it might take a while):
Code:
sudo find / -name java
You'll have to enter your password (which won't appear as you type).

Excuse my ignorance, how do I get a Terminal Window?

Not a problem. The Terminal application can be found in /Applications/Utilities.

From the looks of it, you've only got one JVM on your machine right now. That's not to say though that there aren't parts of the newer one lingering around.

By the way, you might want to update that backup from 2012. ;)

ok, thanks for the help. If I have a problem with any other application i will download the latest version again.
As for the 2012 backup, this is the portable hard drive that i use for my time machine. I have checked it out and it seems to be working fine, the last backup was a few hours ago. The oldest backup is from 2012 so i think that is what it is referring to.
Cheers.
