Take a look on ebay. When my set of Pings were stolen, I got a used set of Cleveland TA5's to replace them temporarily. I want to say I payed Less than $200. The grips were pretty worn but got me through a lot of rounds before I replaced them. A decent set of clubs that can be had for cheap are the Tommy Armour 845's. Take a look on ebay and you will probably find something to your liking, especially being a superior righty like myself. :)

I disagree, go used. Why buy somethign new for 100 dollars when you can buy something used that even better for 100 dollars, when it was probably 200 or 300 new. Thats why I don't understand why people buy new cars...

i say buy new and cheap because within 2-4 years of playing (depending on how much you play), no matter what clubs you get, you are going to want or need new ones

well i had a set of used clubs and older wilsons. i ended up breaking the driver and a wood. but these were really bad clubs probably 10 years old. i don't mind buying used if i can get a good price for something not beat up. i was leaning towards the cougar ti's. i'm going to wait until sunday to see if target has a sale on the cougar clubs they carry. and if they don't and i don't find anything on ebay then i'm going to get the cougars. the problem i ran into was i want to get a set of cheap clubs and get either a notre dame or minnesota vikings golf bag which i really want and those go for around 100 so i was hoping to spend less than 200 for the whole deal. i have looked on ebay for cougars but they are not cheap. i was also looking at some dunlops that have no bag but keep getting outbid (because i'm not home)

I ran a Pro Shop for a year and a half. We carried cheap knock off clubs all the way up to custom fit Ping and Titleist sets. If you "suck" as most of us do, get the cheap set of Cougar clubs until you improve your game or feel the need to upgrade. Most of the cheap sets on the market today are modeled after more expensive counterparts. Now there is a difference in the clubs, but if I stuck a Ping in your hand and a cougar in the other you probably wouldn't hit the ball much different at this point. Save your money, buy the cheaper set, and pick up an extra case of bud when you hit the next course with your buddies. I say do this unless you come across a decent set of cavity backs used for the same price as the cougars. Good luck with your game.

But be careful with used clubs. I bought some from a used sporting goods store and they were much too short. When I went for my lesson, the pro said much of my troubles were from the clubs. He thought maybe they were women's clubs even though they looked masculine enough. :) I went back and picked up a new basic set of Knights for under $100, including an old bag. Try them to make sure they're the right length.

pics (finally)

Here are the pictures. The drivers are a mix. the 5 and 7 woods are calloway big berthas, but the 1 wood is a nice diawa titanium and the 3 wood is a POS 'wood' wood from nortwestern golf co. The Irons (3,4,6,7,8,9,S,W,&Putter) are actually very nice Pings with graphite composite shafts (see pic). All of them are in relatively good shape, but could use a god cleaning. The bag is in great shape as well. I guess a fair asking price is ~$200 + shipping, but I don't really know about the used golf club market.

I also have some odds and ends that I would throw in for free if you wanted them, but they'd add weight to the shipping, so its up to you (assuming your still interested): there is a bob Foski Catalyst 1 wood that looks like it was cut down the lenth of a 5 wood (?), a Ram 3 iron, a titleist 5 iron, a dunlop 7 iron, and an infinity sand wedge. these all have steel shafts and are not in the best of shape, but as I said I'd throw them in for free if you want.

Sorry about the delay by the way. My camera wasn't working... so I finally just took the pictures with my phone :headphone .

If you want to contact me directly, my email address is [email protected].
