Want suggestions for photo editing software

Hello I'm back after a 10-15 years on a PC. My computer should be coming in anytime now. I need some help with some software for my Imac 20" . Looking for photo editing software? what is your opinion?

aperture, or anything else out there? on my old pc I worked with Adobe photoshop.

You may want to try GIMP since its free, but photoshop will work on OS X.

Aperture is more or less for tweaking photographs and such.
