I recently installed a fresh copy of lion so lost my apps. After putting visualhub back on it asks me to download extras to be able to use it. I have tried over and over but automatic download fails so when I click install manually it takes me to a web page but cant see anywhere about extras.

Please advise, this is a great video conversion tool, dont want to loose it.

Have also tried reseting VH but no luck.

VisualHub was discontinued some time back, so the extras may simply not be available. Double-check to make sure you have this patch that someone made for Lion compatibility:

I have done this but it is still prompting me to install extras. I dont think the lion patch is anything to do with the extras....

Can anyone send me the extras over via email. I believe you will find them in the package contents and they only size about 5mb.

Ive put visualhub on a few macs and the download always worked and visualhub has stopped a couple of years now.

Dude...your wrong...:Smirk:

Got it sorted, just had to download the extras manually but they were not on that site. Had to search for them....

No he is right. Works perfectly here. Just be sure you have FFMPG installed.

Well I didn't mean dead as in "not ever gonna work", but as in "it's ceased development, it's off the market, it's going to be a pain to hunt down support files (although you did get them after all) etc etc". Glad you got it sorted though. I'm curious though… any particular reason why you prefer this over Handbrake, for example?

I can answer that for the OP -- VH offers WAY more options in a much cleaner way. Frankly, it still hasn't been topped, and I'm delighted it worked for me in Lion. There are some good alternatives, but still nothing that brought it all together when it comes to video conversion quite the way VH did.

Agreed Chas and well said. Nothing I have tried quite equals VH for the video work I do. It's blazing fast also. I am so glad I got it working under Lion!

Hmmmm. I haven't tried it in a long time, but now that I'm a lot more comfortable with transcoding after experimenting a lot with Handbrake and tweaking various settings (getting Futurama to look good was a royal pain), I think I'll revisit VisualHub.

Bleah. Well I'm giving VisualHub a whirl… or trying to. I have 1.34a with the Lion scripts added to it, and I keep getting this error:
Code:
[FONT="Arial"][B]AppleScript Error[/B]
[SIZE="1"]
[/SIZE]The variable acodec is not defined. (-2753)[/FONT]

I'm at a complete loss here. Googling for a solution hasn't helped.

LB, I had that error sometime yesterday when trying to install VH on Lion. Forgot what I did. Taking off for the day. I will check into it more when I get home.

All I remember is zapping the whole mess and starting over and putting those files inside the VH container.

Yep, visualhub is now working perfect on my macbook pro running lion. I do use handbrake for converting my mkv files to avi but use visualhub for everything else. Im also quite sure handbrake will not merge video files.
