• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have over a hundred video files (.rm's converted to mpeg if that helps) that I wish to burn to a disk, since they're only 30ish mb each I can fit probably 200!1 tto 1 single dvd, but I heard that reduces the quality of the movie drasticaly! How many do you suggest I put on a dvd? I'd like to fit as many as possible without making the video look crappy..the quality is meh to begin with so I can't afford anything less.

Are you trying to make a DVD you can play in a set top box? Or are you placing them on a data dvd for storage (to play back on a computer)?

DVD video is MPEG2. If the files are currently in MPEG1, you'll not know the final size.

A better way to figure this out is to get 120 minutes of footage. Then you'll know you're getting decent quality.
In whatever program you're going to use, add the files until you reach 120 minutes.
