very disapointed by apple

well, first of all, i've to tell you a little story.

okey, since i've heard of the G5 (was about sept. 03), i wanted to buy one.
okey, i saved the money.

at may 04, i had enought (bout 5000CHF, the best g5 is 4500CHF), and was happy.

than, i knew that in the next months, a new serie of the G5 would come out, and it would be stupid to buy one now.

okey, i waited.

july 04, the new g5 were introduced.

just somedays later, i ordered one by a mac-saler (is this the right word?), because i work there as PHPprogrammer.

i ordred that G5 (with the dual 2.5) on july 29 04

but what happen??
sorry apple has deliverie problems.

but that sucks.
realy.

now, the mac dealer told me, that it still goes some weeks (3-4).

but i realy hate it.


why??

'cause if i pay 4600CHF i want that machine.
if i have to wait 3month (!!!!!!!) that G5 is the money not worth.

i mean, 4600 just when they introduced it, okey.
but if i have to wait and wait and wait and wait...

i'm realy not willing in paying 4600 CHF for a 3month old mac.


this realy sucks.

and if you have problem with that liquid cooling.
why do you tell it 3 month ago??
you could at least everyone who ordered it befor the dalays were told, give the mac for 4300CHF.

this would be service.
not a good service, but you would at least try to say sorry.

ok, man, stop spazzing out. i think the problem is that you just didn't research it well enough when you bought it. apple clearly announced that the new powermacs would be available in september. they were simply introducing them back in july. they actually said that they wouldn't be shipping them until later. so it is not their problem that you misunderstood the announcement.

Apple WANTS to sell you a computer. Apple doesn't get any money until you get your computer. Believe me, Apple wants your money. Apple is not doing this just to **** you off.

Apple has problems putting together the newest G5s. It's a serious problem for Apple, because it can't sell computers if it doesn't have them. For Apple's customers, it's bad, but if you need a computer now, you can always buy one from Dell or IBM or somebody else. And frankly, if you do, I don't blame you.

I bought a Dual 2 on June 13th...and waited about 1.5 months for it to get here...But...After researching that issue I found that it wasn't Apple's fault. IBM wasn't getting the G5 processors to Apple quick enough...

Ooh well..I have my G5 now...and I can very quickly and honestly say...IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT~!....Seriously....My Mac is like a dream

The Apple Store has a shipping time of 3-5 weeks for the G5s Dual 2.5 - you'll just have to wait, it'll be worth it!

actually i did.

i asked several apple dealer, even apple switzerland.
they told me all, that the new g5 are availible in the "ends of july".
so i ordered one.

two weeks later i've again asked apple weitzerland. "there are problems with the cooling system, they should arrive in some weeks"

Well apple switzerland obviously didn't know what they were talking about.

It happens all the time with apple in europe, the people on the phone haven't a clue and apple treats europe like an afterthought.

Oh yeah, they want macs too, well lets set up a second rate sales & support network and leave it at that..

Apple usually announces products, which you can preorder, but it doesn't ship them until later. It's always the way it is. Please don't spazz out, as the others said.

Have you finally gotten your G5? If you have, you'll probably delete your first post altogether once you realize how much better the G5 is than you.

You're right. They speak a lot of languages in Switzerland (here in Luxemburg too ) but english isn't definitely the primary one.

just for the record:
the whole world is not English native...even if that might be surprising for some people...

i already bought me a new windows computer, one of that silly cubes.
man, they are also beautiful.

they have almost everything i need.

except the mac os x

i realy dont know, but i think i'll still use the windows machine as much as the g5 (if he even arrives!), cause i'm a webapplication programmer, and i use apache, php, mysql to code.

so, the problem is, that on windows there are several very good programms to code (e.g. weaverslave), but on mac os x, there aren't many good programms.

dreamweaver sucks, cause it dont realy support expose, and not even the clipboard perfect.

so, to code sites it looks like i have still to use my new windows.
