Wow! All the verizon customers are getting so riled up over this excitement...even stating that they dont care about the Apple app store as long as they have the actual iphone. I didn't know the iphone provided such a great image for current owners! If you don't care about the apps, and only care about the phone, you only want the iphone for its IMAGE! I used to not care if verizon was/wasn't going to get the iphone, but now I will forever be hoping they don't. I truly believe Apple is wasting their effort on them!

I'm sore who would think that really. Cause to me itunes and the app store is what sets the iOS devices apart from the rest. One day android will be really good. It is not that good now but it'll catch up. But the itunes/appstore ecosystem Apple have in place is the major selling point. And I don't think Apple would screw that up by giving in to Verizon. And if Apple ever did give in to them I'd write a letter to Apple, right to Phil Schiller explaining my disgust.

But I think Apple are too smart to do something like that.

Amen!

The recipe for a truly "great" smart phone is hardware+software.

I agree that the Iphone and hardware work period.
now I'm 61 years young folks and high tech to me in late 50's was TV Screen that had a colored piece of film to make a black and white tv into a colored tv!

I went and tried the droid first was searching as to where the apps were finally found that screen tried going to plain jane apple seriously it came up with an error message!

after 2hrs left and went to apple store walked up grabbed the Iphone and right off the apps were all there hmmm no searching seven other screens okay went to browser typed in ogaugerr poof showed me 4 options to select .

my take most call iphone a dummies phone well it works pure and simple to me that says it all while the rest of cell phone makers release not 1 but 3 phones of which you can't get them to be simple to use sorry the iphone works its simplicity as in the kiss method "keep it simple stupid and the masses will follow.

now what the iphone truly needs is a cell service provider to equal verizon if it ever happens kiss droid good bye as most want it to work out of the box without the aggravation of learning a new way and then a year latter poof that's old school and now a new batch of headaches.

me I see the apple making a phone that has both hardware and software and no ones allowed to mess it up.

now to make my point very clear if the droid is so much better than the Iphone why is most of there threads say to go here and Jail break it to get rid of bloatware put on from manufactures and the cell phone service provider to save the battery and so on hmmm?

I'm not sure what I'm going to buy next year in may as want iphone but at&t stinks go with others and phones stink kinda a lose lose situation I see personally.

this is only a 61 year olds opinion, have a nice day all.

Apple has some amazing foresight and ability to totally change the way people purchase products and use technology. The iPhone literally recreated touch screen phones and, imo, is still the best out there. In terms of what they will do with the next iPhone or creation of a CDMA version, I would like to see them sell one directly from Apple. What I was reading on another thread on here was the possibilty of an iPhone with both GSM and CDMA technology. Apple could make alot more by not even having to market a phone with each carrier. I hate contracts anyway and would probably pay another 100-200 bucks for the phone just to know I wouldnt be locked into one, which is definately cheaper than my current 350 ETF. Im betting they will make the iPhone and sell it directly from Apple for use with any carrier(hopefully a little cheaper than the full retail they sell for now). In turn, other manufacturers would follow ending the days of service price gouging and contract headaches. Pretty much what other countries have already done. If it works, why not?

If you want your iphone to be bought unlocked direct from Apple you have to pay the full price. In Australia that's like $700-$1000. Yes very expensive. But you can get a subsidised price from pretty much every carrier worth their salt here. Which is a good thing.

So you're either locked into the carrier of your choice or pay your $700 for a totally unlocked iphone. Your choice.

Apple already said no once to Verizon for way too many demands.

It was actually the other way around. Verizon said no to Apple as their CEO admitted.

While true your choice is limited by who else uses the technology. Here in the US your only other choice is T-Mobile and they pretty much suck.
