A good app remover is AppCleaner, which will try to clean up all that debris for you. The debris is generally small, so it isn't really an issue, usually, but I like to clean up using AC.
+1. Another recommended vote for using AppCleaner.app.
And occasionally to be doubly sure all the little bits have been cleaned up is to use Find Any File.app.
The leftover debris bits may be small, but it was small debris that apparently caused some of the recent Railway derailments in the US... so why take a chance leaving anything unwanted and unneeded behind.
