I am taking on a new job and may need to use windows on my Mac (otherwise I'd do the smart thing and stay away from it.) I have a MB Pro using Snow Leopard. I was using boot camp in the past for a bit with XP and was wondering, since I may not have my CD of XP anymore, besides the discontinuation of its support, whether windows 7 will work with it. If so, I wanted to ask if anyone out there could tell me whether I need the 32 or 64 bit version of windows 7. All I need is the home version, simply to run the software that this job requires. I think that it will work, but you never know these days. My mb pro has a duo core processor ( I bought it used as a backup)

Why don't you find out first what Windows software you'll need to run. I doubt that you would need the 64 bit version of Windows 7 anyway as there are not that many programs for Windows which require 64 bit.

Also, we need more info on your MBP. You stated it was a Core Duo which means it can't run 64 bit programs, only 32 bit.

I have a 2002 version of XP that I put on my firs iMac in 2008. My MB Pro has an Intel core 2 Duo -- it's a mid 2010 model (I bought it refurbished last August) and I think it's 64-bit. But it will run 32-bit, won't it?b Also, could you tell me what updates of Boot Camp I may need, if you can? The last time I did this was in 2008 with my iMac (the first mac I bought).

I run Window 7 64 Bit on my late-2010 MacBook Pro inside VMWare Fusion. Never had a problem, but also never did much more with Windows than run IE (for website testing) or the occasional Access database.
