User account not showing up

Hello everyone/anyone,

i'm at a loss. i have one user account on my imac with admin privalleges etc. my profile name appears in the mac hd sidebar under places and i can get to all my files...so far ok. however i don't appear to exist in my users folder which is a big problem when using super duper to back up (or any other automated incremental back up i've tried).

what has happened and how do i get it back???

Hoggster,

You probably need to run some maintenance scripts to get things back in order. If you don't have either Onyx (get it at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11582) or Mainmenu (get it at http://www.santasw.com/), I would download one and run the maintenance and repair scripts and see if that doesn't put things in order for you.

I prefer Mainmenu, but either one should work for you.

Mainmenu allowed me to see invisible files and hey presto it was there all along, but how do i get it to become visiblw without haaving to look at all the other invisibe files??


really happy to have got this far so anything else is a bonus

Hoggster,

If you right click on the file, get Info, then look at sharing & permissions. Maybe you need to change the permissions to allow yourself access to the file... or SuperDuper needs access...

Have you run Mainmenu to rebuild permissions, especially in Disk utility? I run Batch Tasks every day to keep the hard drive and OS X in synch...
