Use AirDrop to transfer files to new Mac?

I figured that, Patrick. I just wanted to be clear that AirDrop does work, it's just not fun to get it going. :)

Guys, thanks for all your detailed responses.
I will be getting a new USB hub in a couple of days. As I said earlier it's something that will be of general use to me, so I went ahead and ordered one.
Here is what I am planning to do--I'll keep it simple, and I'll use the "transfer and reset" option in Settings. Under Migration Assistant there's the option to "erase all contents and settings."
I'll simply erase the settings, and then go back and reboot. That is when I will use the assistant to transfer data backed up from my old computer.
This looks to be the simplest and safest way to transfer data, and I won't need to worry about matching the names of accounts etc.
Does this make sense?
