USB print server between mac os x 10.4 and windows xp?

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to share a printer via a usb print server between an imac running os x 10.4 and a computer using windows xp.

of course it is, and there are at least two ways todo it.

you can either hook the printer into a spare computer (which is the harder, more expensive route), or just buy a router that allows printers to hook into it.

You can do this in one of two ways.

1. You can share the printer from the computer the printer is directly attached to. The downside to doing it this way, is that if you go to print from the remote system, you'll need to make sure the computer directly attached to the printer is turned on.

2. You can purchase a USB Print Server. This allows you to attach your printer to your network. The only problem with this setup is that it can be difficult to configure and in some cases, your print driver may be geared specifically to print via USB and will not work with the printer networked.
