upgrade from 10.6.8

Macbook pro 2.53 GHZ intel 2 duo 4 gb
I am thinking about wiping my macbook pro then installing to the 10.7 Do I go to download 10.7 or use disc that came with macbookpro and then just upgrade to 10.7? I am saving files so just about ready to wipe the computer and start over.. also IS have 4 g of ram ... will that be sufficient to run the newer os thanks for your help

You need to download 10.7 from the Mac App Store. I would make a bootable USB installer of 10.7. If you don't know how to do this…do an internet search for instructions.

Lion is buggy so stay were you are unless you can go to OS X.8. And Snow Leopard runs Rosetta for any PowerPC applications you may use. Later operating systems will not.

Lion wasn't at all buggy in my experience. It made some changes that didn't go down well with all users, but it was stable as a rock (at least for me). I liked Mountain Lion better though so I'm not disagreeing with your advice, just your terminology.
