We are assuming the OP owns an iPhone or Android device capable of running ZOOM. And if you ever tried to use ZOOM on an iPhone.... lots of luck. :)

Good point Bob. I didn't think of that. I've used the IOS version a few times and it seems to work well, I prefer the desktop version because of the extra screen real estate but the IOS program itself seems to work well.

:rofl :wink I sure hope their eyes are better than mine are these days if tInhey are going to try using it on an iPhone.

Actually, I was half expecting someone to post back that they are having trouble downloading and installing the IOS version of Zoom on to their MacOS Mac!!!

My vision isn't the best by any stretch of the imagination though it is better than it was when I was in grad school. I tried the iPhone version because I had a meeting coming up one day but I had something running on the Mac that was making use of the auto. I could have stopped the audio on the mac to run Zoom bur I already had Zoom on the phone as a backup in case things went south on the Mac.

The IOS version of Zoom is similar to reading many websites on IOS. You can zoom in to read the text on documents someone has shared with the group but you're going to have to do some scrolling. You can choose to have the video or the chat box on screen and it's easy to alternate between the two views.

I dd not try mirroring my phone screen to the larger screen on my Mac in part because I didn't need to and in part because I did not think of trying it.

Helpful info thanks Sly.

However, we tend to be a Skype type using family and no need for Zoom or any business type meetings being retired.

We did enjoy a Skype call earlier today with our youngest son and his family and the special One year birthday greeting with their daughter, our nineth Grandchild!!!

But I'm getting off topic...

Thanks so much,chscag,[Charlie?]

I have heard this from my brother, and another source as well, which could be why I never went for the update to Lion a few years ago ! I guess, no, I haven't really needed Zoom, until now, whilst I can't meet my few piano students ! We'll have to carry on using the phone. Skype needs 10.10.xx. It isn't worth risking a stable system that has worked well for years.
I should spend some money on a new system, when we can all get out and about and I can touch and feel and get advice, rather than order online.
I can live without Zoom. Someone says try Google Hangouts, but I expect that needs more modern stuff, and will check.
Thank you [all] for your helpful advice,

Peter B.

Google says this:

System and browser requirements
Before you use Hangouts, check if your computer has these:
Hangouts works with the current version and 2 previous major releases of the operating systems listed below.

Mac OS X
Get started with classic Hangouts - Computer - Hangouts Help

I'd say that means a No Go for your Mac model

I would also say that using a good old telephone is not such a bad idea. :Smirk:
