Unwanted Computers in Finders Sidebar

I have two computers that show up along with my networked computers in the sidebar. I assume they belong to my neighbors since I get a connection failed if I click on them. Is there any way to get rid or or hide them as they are a distraction?

They shouldn't be showing up at all unless you and your neighbor are on the same network.

First question I'd ask is if you are using their wi-fi or is your wi-fi unprotected and they're using yours?

I'm using WPA2 on my Airport Extreme/Time Capsule. I have DSL through my phone company, modem via ethernet cable to Timecapsule.

Only one is showing up right now; its designation is

When I try getinfo on it I get that its kind is pc server and nothing else.

Is your one Mac the only computer on your network? I doubt your neighbors could hack your WPA2. Do you have a printserver on the network?

Some routers and printers use a form of file sharing for some of their services.

Another possibility is some random bluetooth device showing up.

I got paranoid after thinking about it and logged into Airport Utility and changed my password, went for something considerably stronger.

Now the only computers showing are the ones that belong to me. I do have a wireless printer, but not a print server. It is working (just printed to it to check) but nothing untoward now visible in finder sidebar.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I read the linked article and it is possible that my past attempts (unsuccessful) to add my Linux boxes (pc and laptop) may be responsible for the problem I had.
I was able to access the internet from my Linux machines, but never could get the file or printer sharing to work the way it should.
