I'm trying to copy a CD onto my hard drive. It copies, but has the file extension cdr, and I am unable to open the file on my hard drive. I have done this several times before with similar CD's, and these files have the pdf extension and I am able to open those files on my hard drive. What am I doing wrong?

I am running Monterey OS version 12.6.2

Any help is certainly appreciated!

Do you know what kind of files these were originally? In other words, are these supposed to be pdf, raw data, etc.? Here's an overview of wheat the files might be with some tips for handling the files.

You're welcome. Glad that helped you sort things out.

Just out of curiosity, what kinds of files were these?

Thanks Sky, and I must admit I'm just as curious.

I was completely misunderstanding what the OP said: "I'm trying to copy a CD onto my hard drive."

That's not the normal expression for coping a file, and I didn't think one could use that method to copy a whole CD.

I assume the CD was used for data backup???

Anyway, I'm glad to hear the OP got their problem sorted out.

IIRC one of the uses for the car format is to copy CDs. I think Toast use this format if you tried to copy an entire disc.
