When I try to move my Mac mail from inbox to Trash I get a dialogue box like this:

-The message "Blah-de-blah message” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — Road Runner”
“46671.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages”.-

What is the deal? I didn't change any settings so I'm mystified.

This is with what version of Mail and you are moving to Trash via the garbage bin icon?

I'm not saying this will cure the problem, but my simple suggestion takes but a few seconds and no one has yet come up with an answer.

In Mail: click on Inbox to highlight it. Then, from the Menu bar, click on Mailbox. From the bottom of the drop down menu, choose Rebuild. See if that works.
