Unable to delete folder.

Seeing the drive is in FAT32 format, could you not get access to a PC and attach the drive to delete the offending file from that end? Or even through Bootcamp/Parallels etc.

I use a tiny program called "Force Empty Trash" to remove stubborn files from the trash that refuse to be emptied. I had a problem with a file while it wasn't locked still refused to be emptied until I downloaded this small program and it worked great.

getting closer...

plugged the ipod in through parallels. I was able to delete the locked "my pictures" file, but the locked files that appear in the trash did not show up in the recycle bin. When I went back to OS X, the locked files were back in the trash.

BTW - I tried the force empty program - no joy.
