I am trying, with no success, to link my iPhone SE to my M1 iMac running Venture.

The instructions on the VR code page, example below

I do that, but I don't have the 3 horizontal bars?

The SE is 3rd Gen on 16.5.1

Any ideas please folks?

Post the link to the VR code page?

Are you trying to connect your macOS Messages app to your iPhone? Or are you trying to connect your google messages app to your Mac?

I think that it must be the OS jobbie Bob? I hadn't really thought about the difference before

That would explain why the bits are missing. I had just searched on connecting the SE to the iMac for texts.

Then those settings would be in macOS and iOS Settings for iCloud sync.

I'm sorry to be so thick Bob, but I have followed the instructions in your link for my iMac, but there isn't a Messages button to select from?

It was all set up correctly on my SE though.

Have you logged into the Messages app on your Mac? After you login in the app, you should get the option in iCloud.

John,

That's not the way I synced my iPhone with my iMac.

This is what I did - although it may be that you want something different??

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages.
Tap Text Message Forwarding. ...
You will see the list of devices. Turn On your Mac from that list.
If you're not using two-factor authentication, a six-digit activation code appears on your Mac; enter this code on your iPhone, then tap Allow.

Any use to you?

That's right Ian, I forgot about that setting. Thanks for clarifying the issue.

I have set myself the task of writing "I am a twit 500" times :confused3

I was trying to use the same as I have been using on my old Moto G7 and it's the google thing on Safari! I have been using it for a few years and it didn't cross my brain cell that it wasn't the Apple version.

So, I have now found the Apple Messages application in my Applications folder and all is well.

Sorry for being such a TWIT (Totally Witless Idiot Type), but at least I got there and you folks just prompted me in the right direction yet again.

Now all I have to do is to convince this flamin SE to beep at me when texts arrive/
