Trying To Factory Reset IMac, Need Help

I am selling an IMac 27" with the Retina display. the computer is 2017-ish and has the Ventura OS. resetting the hard drive was a major chore and it doesn't seem like Apple made it any easier for me but I got it done. I had to use the Command-R utility but it is done.

Now I am up against another problem and I can't for the life of me figure out what to do. I have a feeling I am missing a step but I have no clue as to what it might be. My name is still showing as Administrator and also on the Startup screen and I need to remove it. I have tried everything I can think or and everything that the Internet suggests so far and no success. I have removed the computer from my ICloud account and everything else I can come up with. Can someone please suggest to me what I need to do to remove my name as Admin? I would even settle for changing the name to something like "Cust_Omer" or "Comp_User" or something similar. I just need to get my name out of the computer. Suggestions are most greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Erasing the Macintosh HD from the Recovery partition using Disk Utility and reinstalling macOS usually would return you to the Setup Assistant and the welcome page where you select your language. You need to shut down at that point and that is what the next person will see.

Ha, ferrarr beat me to it. As you can see it's dependant on which Mac you have and which macOS. Regardless it can be done more than once. Try again and let us know how you get on.

Why does Apple seem to like making it's so difficult to do what the OP and others want to do, just reset their old Intel Legacy Mac back into basic Factory settings?

It might be easier to just set up a brand new admin user account with or without password and then moved into it to delete the old user account and everything associated with it as has been mentioned as a method by other members here when Apple's methods don't work.

Really it shouldn't be that difficult if everything is working. Sign out of all Apple services, boot into Recovery, Use Disk Utility to erase the Macintosh HD, Reinstal the macOS.
Quite Recovery and Shut Down.

Starting again should initiate the Setup Assistant confirming all done. Force shut down with the power button or select shut down from the Apple Menu if available. All done.

I wish Windows PC's were that easy.

The only times it becomes difficult are where users insist on additional security measures or the device is not working properly in the first place.
